Exclamation MURRIETA ROD RUN OCT 12 & 13 (FRI/SAT)

Ok, we are a go since we have two members willing to step up and volunteer their time manning the booth. If there are others who wish to help out, we can always use a few more. Thank you. Check this thread as it gets closer to the date of the Rod Run for instructions as to booth location (different this year), arrival times, where to park, etc. If you are planning on bringing a rifle or AR/AK pistol, please advise me here in the thread or pm me so I can add it by your name. We have two rifle racks that hold 3 rifles each, so if you wish to bring two each, that's great. Remember, leave the bolt, mags and ammo at home. If anything else must be removed to ensure it's inoperable, please do that and leave that part home too. We have a contract with Murrieta PD as to what is expected of us but there have been no problems during the first 4 events. As long as the firearm is legal and you are the owner, we're good.

FRIDAY:

1. Eat Dirt

2. Bravo 5 Guard

3. retired

Saturday:

1. Eat Dirt

2. Bravo 5 Guard

3. socalnonsage

4. retired

Thanks guys. As soon as sufficient numbers post here or pm me, I'll post the actual thread and feed your names and the days you are able to work. Also, there will be the ability to display your rifles; any type as long as it's legal. They will be zipped tied onto the two racks that hold 3 rifles each. No pistols, rifles only.

I don't understand it; we have many more members now than when I began our participation at the Murrieta and Temecula Rod Runs, yet less people sign up for these events now. I don't understand the apathy. I do understand everyone has a life with work and family, but the people who signed up before had the same things in their life and they signed up. I had to cancel our booth last year and the fee was forfeited ($350). That is why I made this interest thread beforehand to ascertain if enough people are going to sign up. I can always count on Eat Dirt, he's been there since the very first Temecula Rod Run a good 9 or 10 years ago. He also helped in the first Murrieta Rod Run 6 years ago and the 3 subsequent ones.

I honestly don't know what's it going to take renew participation in various Calguns events; I know these aren't the only events having this problem. The gun shows and the Rahaauge's Sports Fair have the same problems. If anyone has any ideas please provide them and if you can, please sign up and try to get your friends here do so also. Thank you.

Retired,

As said, I'm in for Saturday (all day) Rain or shine. Hope this pans out because there's nothing I like more than to talk about guns, laws, and cars.

If Bravo 5 guard is able to work both Friday and Saturday that will be enough to do this as Eat Dirt and I work both days also. Ideally, 4 members on Friday would make it much easier. I'm just waiting for Bravo 5 guard to reply to my pm about working Friday and I will delete this thread and post the actual sign up thread. Thank you Bravo 5 guard and socalnonsage for volunteering your time to help get out the word.

Basically, you should be prepared to speak to the public about Calguns.net; what we are, what we do, i.e. Community service events throughout the state via public shooting area clean ups. It's always good to tell them the Forest Rangers for the Bee Canyon area in the Hemet county area have advised us the range has remained open over the years only because of our efforts. Also, the BLM Rangers said the same thing over the 6-7yrs. we cleaned the Steele Peak range. It was the City of Lake Elsinore that was responsible for it's closing.

We also volunteer to run a booth at the local gun shows in an effort to get the word out about Calguns.net.

You would also mention that we get together with like like minded people to shoot, as we do after we clean a canyon or two in Bee Canyon. Our biggest meet and shoot is the Super Secret Zombie Shoot outside of Barstow which is a family event. We have had as many as 300-400 people, some who spend 3 days camping there. We have families, vendors giving away product, potluck meals and some time to be with people who hold shooting as dear as we do.

Obviously, you don't have to use my words word for word, but that's the gist of it. Also, be up to date on some of the most important state anti gun bills possibly passing if we don't contact our reps in Sacramento. Some knowledge of some important pending court cases would be great also.

If you want to display a rifle (no handguns, but AR/AK pistols allowed) you will need to let me know. It can be EBR, classic ones like an M1 Garand or Mosin Nagant or anything in between. You must have the bolt removed and left at home with the mags and ammo. The gun must be completely inoperable and the trigger zip tied. We will zip tie them to the rifle racks. We have two racks that can hold 3 guns each, so there is room to possibly allow 2 a piece depending on how many volunteers we get.

If you have never worked a booth at either the Temecula or Murrieta Rod Runs or one of the gun shows, it really isn't that difficult. Eat Dirt and I have been doing this since at least 2007, so we can assist anyone who isn't sure they can work the booth. With the attacks on firearms and our Second Amendment increasing, we need to get the word out. This Rod Run is a great opportunity to do so as there will be thousands of people attending over the two days.
