New Hampshire - License Renewal (non-res)
Just thought I would post this data as it might be helpful to a few. First, in NH the permit is called a Pistol/Revolver License and NH is shall issue. However, NH is one of six states that DO NOT HONOR any non-resident permits.
My renewal letter was dated 58 days prior to my license expiration, however the letter was postmarked and mailed 15 days AFTER the date on the letter. So I promptly mailed my renewal and in NH, there is NO training certificate to ever provide, NO prints, NO photo, NO notarizations and the application is one page. All you need to provide is a copy of any current valid permit from any state. This is a real easy no brainer permit, but it does nothing for you beyond permits from AZ, FL, or UT other than NH if all your permits are non-resident. Door to door my NH license took 19 days, actual license processing time from application delivery (USPS Priority/Certified) to license mailed was 13 days, so less than two weeks! The NH license fee was $20 for 4 years for ages, however effective July 1, 2009 the fee was QUINTUPLED to $100 (4 years still). For $20 this license was a no brainer, for $100 forget it unless you actually need NH! Other than the price, the NH State Police Permit and License Unit is great to work with and they are very fast and efficient, but for $100 I would expect them to be! |

So I just left the "Home-state permit number" blank and checked the "renewal" box.
I also included a photo copy of my NH resident permit and printed the number in the renewal box. I'll post here what happens. Thanks for the great explanation Baja. Last edited by baileymyk; 11-09-2012 at 7:47 AM.. |

I chose not to renew mine just because of the cost; as I don't travel there it really doesn't have any additional benefit for me at this time.

I definitely understand. $100 is a lot to spend for that. I might use it in AZ and Utah, but that'll be quite infrequent.

I have those permits and teach the classes to obtain them as well. The reciprocity from UT, FL, and AZ really covers a lot of states for non-residents.

The NH state police mailed my application back and highlighted the section stating "No photocopy of you valid pistol permit . . . (Any state, but not a NH non-resident pistol permit)"
So I guess I'd have to have another permit to get the NH permit. Kind of a waste of money for $100. What is the deal with concealed carry in Las Vegas, casinos and such with an AZ permit? |

You can carry in the casinos with a NV or AZ permit.
