What politicians should I contact to request opposition to this bill?

What registration will entail:
The registration shall contain a description of the firearm that identifies it uniquely, including all identification marks, the date the firearm was acquired, the name and address of the individual from whom, or business from which, the firearm was acquired, as well as the registrant's full name, address, telephone number, date of birth, sex, height, weight, eye color, hair color, and California driver's license number or California identification card number. |

Looks like $20 for registration plus $15 for the convenience of using the mandatory online system? Everything adjusted annually for inflation of course.

Are you kidding me. If I didn't keep up with the ridiculous laws and amendments they pass every five seconds that do absolutely nothing to stop violent crime or crime in general I'd be a felon. Why? I work full time and go to school - if not for my CalGuns vice they could amend this and I'd be so buried with coursework and things at the workplace that I'd have a snowball's chance in hell of knowing that I needed to register let alone that I'd be a felon if I couldn't satisfy their new time limit.
Idiots. |

I think this is a great idea. What I also want added is exactly what weapons the people protecting our politicians are carrying, when they are a carrying them and where. We need to know, to keep the children safe, exactly where guns will be present at all times, for everyone, everywhere. I also want the names of all Law Enforcement officers published, with their home addresses, if they take a gun home with them. We as the public need to know where these guns are so we can call upon our law enforcement agencies at any time. A map on Google Maps would be appropriate so you can point me to the right places. I will line up to register and pay no problem once they make the system even. Until then, they can go spit.

So it would be $35 total per gun? That would cost me a fortune. |

well nobody needs more than 1 gun so it is completely reasonable to charge whatever they want. only an unreasonable person would own more than 1 "assault weapon".

"(2) Existing law requires that any person who, within this state, possesses an assault weapon, except as otherwise provided, be punished as a felony or for a period not to exceed one year, in a county jail "
This makes no sense unless they mean it as a wobbler. A period not to exceed one year in county jail is a misdemeanor offense. And the grammar is terrible too... |

They cannot enforce providing names of sellers as a prerequisite for registration as keeping those names was never a requirement for gun ownership and there's no way gun owners are going to remember the names and locations where they purchased their guns from years back.

Just like they do now. Prison time for non-compliance when they are discovered one at a time.

Is this the same bill from last year to outlaw BB firearms and make everyone register them? If this passes they want $35 per rifle for registration? Don't DeLeon an Yee have anything better to do?!?

It would seem that "a description of the firearm that identifies it uniquely, including all identification marks" would simply be the serial number. But IANAL, this i just my opinion. |

"Exclude from Punishment".
Interesting change of words in the bills language. Should this become law, people who comply and register all their guns affected, could still be considered to have an illegal assault weapon, just "excluded from punishment". I guess now we know why they killed the bill to eliminate grandfathering. If this passes, they'll just deem all BB guns assault weapons and even if you comply with registration, they will just consider them a public nuisance worthy of confiscation. You just won't face prosecution. |

NO - only the "bullet button" type rifles. At least under THIS bill. There are others out there.

Could they compare DROS's to the list of registered firearms to find out who hasn't registered theirs and then file a bench warrant for their arrest? If so, what happens to someone who moved out of state? Does this mean I need to "un-register" my CA purchased firearm when I move back to Wisconsin this August to avoid being labeled as a criminal? Being charged for felony related to firearms (even if it's dropped) is enough these days to be stripped of our 2nd ammendment rights.

Turning law abiding citizens into felons in mass numbers would be a very big mistake on their part.
Mass resistance will occur.

So this means my Marlin 795 (mag fed .22) and model 60 (tube fed .22) will have to be registered as well??

Pretty incredible, WTF do they think they are preventing by keeping a list of law abiding citizens?
There is only one reason you need a list!
