Wish there was a way for you to get pictures of the scenery, but I'm going to guess that's frowned upon.

That's awesome.
And that second picture....is.... a few Marines checking out... something at their feet? With their hands clasped reverently in front of them? Maybe they're heads are bowed in prayer? And is that a nuclear power plant in the background?

Now those pictures bring back sweet memories of blood blisters and good times. That was our trail in SOI. I remember every single step of the 20K because we were carrying the 50lb Javelin Missile system along with the Molly Packs and the rest of our gear.
Good old days. Enjoy every second of it, devil. You will surely miss it once you are out. Last edited by letaz77; 06-12-2009 at 11:02 PM.. |

Yes, and between those Marines and that power plant is Interstate 5.

We here at SONGS usually have the FBI check into the people that we catch taking pictures of the plant, but I'll make an exception this time. Seeing as you went on a "fun hump." Hope it was fun. Did your CO hook up the beer for the Teufel Hundens afterwords? Old Chesty up there (Hitman) probably knows what I'm talking about.

Yeah that Nuke Plant is SONGS run by Southern CA Edison, I remember when I was in School for AAV's and the instructor told me the glowing algae in the water was nuclear radiation in the water, the guy riding with me got all freaked out until I called him on his bluff.

San Onofre nuke plant in the backgound. Praying? LOL Since no one else commented that looks like our photographer caught them making head calls on the side of the road.

Definitely remembered the Ankle Breaker back in 52 Area. Fondly remember being briefed on the Trail of Tears about how half of us would all see Jesus at the top.
Funny enough, my shop is currently doing work ups to do a full blown hump soon.

That's funny, other than boot camp and a couple of schools, I did my entire enlistment at Camp Horno; wait that's not frikken funny at all, that place sucked.
Right before I got out, I stayed in the condemned barracks across the street from the Burger King (which was only there for about 6 months before I got out). Good to see your back Mustang03, last time we talked you were headed over there. Last edited by grim1U; 06-22-2009 at 3:07 AM.. |
