Default Marlin M 60 Stainless $197 good deal?

Was wondering if this is a good price it has a wooden stock and the factory 4x scope also, would add another $20 for tax and fee.

All I've found at Grabagun or Gun genie are blued with plastic stocks.

And the link you show doesn't show the included 4x scope!

I may just go pick this one up tomorrow!

Yes, it a good price and an good rifle too. I have Marlin 60-SB and 60-SS, both of them broke the EOM plastic trigger guard after couple years. If you buy it then keep this link just in case.

Well the debate still goes on. Finally got my hands on it today after
Waiting 20 minutes, Wally World understaffed. Nice rifle
But the buttstock seems kinda short, do they have a youth model with short stock? Will check with Marlin when I get home. The clerk was the lunch relief

Yeah now I know to go early in the AM BEFORE they do lunch!

The clerk just handed me the rifle didn't know enough to clear it before handing it over.
I did check it and the bolt was locked back though.

A guy next to me wanted 1000 rd of 9mm, she said, You'll have to point, I don't know anything about ammo!

Ok so I bought one today AFTER checking out the Wal Mart that sells a lot of firearms in another part of town.

Stainless with scope $197 + Tax, no Transfer or NICS fees = $212 OTD!

I saw the one they had in the rotating rack at the "firearms sales" active Wally World store. The rack is one of those rotating ones in a glass case, the areas were the longun rifles barrels rest are wrapped with black tape, I noticed a ring worn in the surface of the barrel, I can imagine other non stainless barrels have rings as well, "they'll be getting a remodel soon". Sooooo I drove BACK to the first "I don't know nothing about firearms Wally World", just to see if perchance they had one without any surface marking. I told him I could by a marked up rifle and all he had was a blued on in the storeroom. Well this time I scored a clerk that actually worked in that dept, a young man that was actually the guy that SELLS firearms! The one M60 in the rack was missing a scope cap, so he checked and found he had several in back room NIB and complete so he went and got me one of those while I did the 4473 on their computer. Usually I get stuck with, "sorry it's the last one he have" thing. NICS cleared in 6 minutes and I was escorted to the parking lot curb by the Assistant Mgr and sent on my way!

Once I get to shoot this thing if I like it I'll go for the model with the grey wood laminate stock as it has factory installed sling swivels and I found I have stainless scope rings in the parts box! I'll pass this one onto my Daughter and Son-in-law.

Days are cooling here in ABQ, so range time maybe in the near future!

Nope:

Receipt shows $197.00 + 7.875% Sales Tax $15.51 Total $212.51!

Dunno Maybe Wally World doesn't charge the NICS Fee?

I'd probably grab a stainless one for that price if I came across it!

Yeah I figured with the scope it was a pretty good deal, I go stainless as much as possible with purchases. Supposedly they are "bore sighted" at the factory according to something I read in a review. So allegedly "accurate" right out of the box. Guess we'll see!

Even without scope it's good. That's significantly cheaper than anything on Gun Genie right now. There are two different stainless, one with brown wood and one with laminate. After seeing this thread, I looked there this morning and told myself if it was close to that price I would order one...I didn't.

I like that grey laminate stock and the fact is comes with sling swivel studs installed. Woulda liked to get the laminate stainless with scope, but they don't come that way.
Then I realized I've got some stainless scope rings from a 10/22 I put a different sight onto.

Did you check Grab a gun?

https://grabagun.com/marlin-60ss-22l...rce=igodigital

Or Buds?

Ya, but I have no interest in paying a 125 dollar transfer fee for a 200 dollar gun. Not one I need, I'll live! 😁

Yep pretty excessive!

Did all Wal-Mart's in CA stop selling firearms? They don't charge DROS or NICS fees here in NM only sales tax.

2 years ago Walmarts here also had AR types but I don't see them anymore. Also no handguns. Plenty of .22lr though.

Interesting! I noticed they also sell the modern inline black powder types and propellant here as well.

Rimfire rifles are not (yet) part of the AW definition.
