Default Where does one get a Mosin Nagant these days?

Seems like all the sporting goods stores had them for $125-150 back in the day. I haven't seen one in ages. I'm pretty sure they have fixed magazines - yes?

Looks cheap to run rounds through, and I remember them being fun to fire.

FWIW, I'm in Lincoln.

Most Big 5s have 1 or 2. River City has a few, along with a few T53s. And there's always the For Sale section here.

Only a year ago you could pick one up for $89 on sale at Big5.
They still have them but the price has gone up.
They pop up for sale here everyday and I've seen quite a few here for sale this week.
Depends what you want. -g

River City has 6 IIRC, was in there the other day. J&G gunsmithing in Granite Bay has a badly bubba'd finnish M28 for $200 if that interests you. You could check at the Lincoln Gun Exchange, they might have one.

Not sure when it is, but there's always a few at the Roseville gun show

Otherwise, keep an eye out in the FS section here.

IMO its best to get one FTF no dros no wait.
Better hurry the exemption to do so goes away Jan 1st 2014.
But expect prices to have gone up.. like 200 for a 91/30...

He is right, I just put my 1928 91/30 in jail....its very annoying knowing I could have skipped the background check and the wait, it could be in my hands now! other than that, I cant wait! looks amazing, hex receiver, nice stock. I am a happy camper

Why not? Buy it and have it transfered to a local store. The Mosin may not have to be transfered, I'm not sure. If your going just ask,

Thanks.

I called a couple shops about handling the paperwork, most want an additional $50-100 to do it. Given the extra price, maybe I'll try to pickup a local one.... Or get 03FFL.

So far my phone calls have resulted in "No, but we can order them." It's not a firearm I'd buy sight-unseen.

Forgive my limited knowledge on Mosin's..

Atlantic has this:

http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/comp....html?Itemid=0

Seems....umm...expensive for a Mosin... Is there any reason this is a $600 gun?

No, end of FTF 50 year old exemption.
IMO better to start selling them the week before Christmas to get that last minute shopping rush!

Because it's a sniper rifle. You think that's a bad price, go try to buy an orignal sniper from any other major country

Unless you have a C&R, your best bet is a LGS. Big5 usually has them for $199. Anything cheaper is a bit of a search. Century has the best pricing that I have seen bit you need a C&R to buy from them.

I dropped by a Big5 while waiting to be seated at Red Lobster. They had a super nice once there. My brother knows a lot more about these than I do, and he said it was a good one. Had an armory repair. Was on sale.

I'll pick it up in 11 days.

Congrats.

Do you mean the box with a line mark? That means Arsenal Refinished, which pretty much all imports for a long time now have been.

There's a section of the stock that was cut out and replaced. The repair is very good. It was also refinished.

I was about to order a couple spam cans of ammo, but it looks like most places aren't friendly to steel core. Nuts.

Where do I go for a Mosin? 20 feet to the bedroom and safe, choice of 7 of them.

I just purchased a Hex $159 and a regular $129 from Aim Surplus. Shipping was $39. Then bought 880 rounds from sportman guide for less than $200 shipped. I dont have a mosin and figured it was time.

I understood it as 1 Mosin shipped for $39 not 2 (I need to read better). Century does $12.95 shipping. I was not commenting on ammo from SG. The ammo was inclusive of shipping. I got my crate for $185-ish.

I would think cash and carry would be a huge attraction over buying one through an FFL ?

If you want a good 91/30 Mosin Nagant, you need to order from AIM SURPLUS! They will ship to your FFL. An extra $10 dollars will get you a better hand picked rifle.
