Glad you are interested, we are just getting started on the things we want to do. Im currently trying to set up a meet and greet, on a sunday.

Having experience with excel will be great for the club. cough*group buys*cough.

Anyone that has any questions, or wants to help or wants to be in the first class please PM me and I will put you name on a list

Thanks Cityhunt3r, btw, whats the deal with "subscribing" to this thread? I thought I did that by posting in it. Is it something different?

Colt562, I just sent you a pm.

Thanks,
John

Holy crap this group is a wild bunch! Much more lively over here vs. the other chapters.

First off, hello everyone. I've been rolling my own since way back in '10 and interesting in helping out others learn/setup. Currently do ,380, 357, 9, 45, and starting on 223 on a Lee Pro 1000.

Colt/Exodus, thank you for stepping up saving us the drive to South OC or North LA. Please add me to the volunteer list.

And PS - I'd like to donate the use of my hotwire foam cutter to the club. I can help you set it up so you too can cut out awesome custom cases!

HDgaser, you done with the cutter yet?

OK, tell you what, bring all that brass over so I can tumble it, let me keep a couple pieces of the 223, and that will get you another 2 weeks!

That looks very niice BTW!

If you can designate that table for foam cutting that would be great, as I imagine there are others who may be interested. And it'll give us an edge over the other chapters!

I hope you got a BIG tumbler! And all those calibers are mixed together too so it needs to be sorted. I figured I could donate it all to the club for a tax write... I mean uhh learning purposes

I could definitely designate that table to it. All I ask is that whoever wants to cut something out to trace and cut out a template on cardboard before hand cause that's what takes the most time.

And trust me... The LBC chapter of "ammo anonymous" is WAY cooler than the others!

Cooler? No.
Louder? Yes.

Lets keep the chatter to a minimum guys. This thread has derailed way too many times and you guys haven't even set up a meeting yet.

I think it's a good way to keep the thread alive and maybe attract new members as well as a good way for members to get to know each other.

Was also wondering if having a meet and greet at a shooting range would be a good idea.... What do you guys think?

Exactly!

Insight has that room where they hold the NRA meetings. Perhaps they could let us use it for a meet and greet.

Conversation about the club and upcoming event yea, but with posts like

And talking about my chevelle isn't relevant. Sure it keeps the thread bumped up, but doesn't pertain to the thread, and people lose thier interest to continue reading the thread when it details this bad.

And even then, look at the LA thread (no offense CSA) it was alot ideas but no one would commit. Colt and exodus need to find a day they are both off together, and say that's the date. Keep your ideas written down and maybe share them all at once so people can see a chunk rather than shift 8 posts to find the second idea. People will want to join, just stay focused and it will come together.

What can really help out is if you guys place Craigslist adds out, penny saver adds, or even hit up local gun stores for donations of equipment and supplies.
That's what you're gonna really need to get the ball rolling.

ETA. Yard and estate sales too. Each clinic we have 3-5 people doing 9mm and another 3-5 doing 223. That requires dies, shell holders and componets for each one. The club is fun, but it takes alot of work. The little things you can do or get like hand priming tools and shell holders make the class go that much smoother.

Bumslie, do you have a list of what specifically we need to get/buy?? I don't have a problem spending $$$ just need to know what exactly we need... I'm a FNG when it comes to the reloading world.

Plus it will help shut me up... For a little while at least!

If your talking.about getting a press, I would.hold.off for now, attend a clinic and see.if its something you would consider doing before investing money into it , just my opinion. You will also get a feel for different types of presses assuming we have them available.
Most people will tell you to start with a single stage press, but I'd say start with what you feel you are comfortable with.

I'll probly bring a single stage press to help with the clinics and if need be ill bring a turret press

CityHunt3r is correct in saying hold off until you attend a workshop. You'll need some hands on experience to really make an informed decision on if and what is right for you.

So I have a question which was brought up to my attention, what are we going to do at this meet and greet? Is it a time just to get away from the wife and kids and just drink beer or are we actually going to discuss what we will be doing in the near future?

Heres what I want this club to be...

I want to create a club that can help future reloaders with whatever they need. I want to get a certain group of people that have a lot of experience reloading together so we can all lead this chapter. I want this chapter to be bigger than the others but with that I also want this club to share with the other chapters. This is not just a Long Beach thing, this is a whole California/United States thing.

I want to get group buys for everything, powder, primers, and bullets. (of course when supplies get back in stock).

The classes will start at 8 in the morning and run until 12 o'clock. From 12 o'clock to whenever students will be able to load more ammunition or ask any other questions they might have. People that have been to the reloading clinic before are also welcome to come back and load with their components on the equipment provided.

I am in the process of creating shirts for the Long Beach reloading club, which will be available for purchase to the club, a portion of the shirts will be donated back to the club.

Please subscribe to this thread to get more information as it pops into my HUGE brain.

The 14th is the first LA County class. So, the 21st is better for me. We will talk about the latest news on the CGSSA reloading club at the state level. If you want to just be a part of the LA Chapter or an independent chapter. Dues, donations and what to do with them. Plan your next event, etc. Personally, I'll have a long drive home and wake up between 4 and 5 am so, the earlier the better for me. Now, someone just has to definitively pick a time and place and stick to it. I suggest 2pm at the picnic tables at Angeles. That way, everyone will have a chance to shoot one of my 50s between noon and 1:30. I'm just being selfish and don't want to drive as far.

Ok the 21st would work great. I definently need to shoot one of your 50's. Never shot one before.

I'm not, but I think the picnic table area would be a nice touch
not to mention Greg and his 50 cals, that is appealing
