Anything I can do to help keep this place open. Maybe with so many new shooters our presence may rub off and they take their own trash out....I'd hate for them to see us as their clean up crew that comes out once a month.

I'm a new member and have hunted the riverside area for many years but have never been to this site. I'm more than happy to help out with the clean up and I have a pickup as well. I hate litterbugs and always try to leave an area better than it was when I arrived. I've lived in Canyon Lake for 30+ years and have a picture of my brother and I fishing there in 1959 so I guess that you could say that I'm fond of the area. Let me know if you need my help.

Yea, it didn't look to bad. The entrance could use some cleanup, But the backside look good compared to other trips I've been out there. I saw they posted markers at certain spots that say No Shooting (unsafe conditions) I took a picture of one. Was a good day out, just had one incident where a guy was shooting across the road and some truck allmost drove right into his line of sight. I had to whistle at the driver to stop and be careful of the shooter that wasn't paying attention. I still see the guys by the entrance right by the road shooting, even though it's not legal there.

Is that no shooting sign right as you come over the hill before heading right into the back of Steele? If it is we cleaned that a few month ago. I hope on the 25th we can head back there to clean.... I'd rather be back there anyday vs near the entrance!!! Thks for the pics and update Sean!

I was up there on Christmas Eve, I cannot believe how trashed the place is after being "closed" all summer! Unbelievable pigs visit and use this location!

The front side is actually cleaner than the backside.

With all the holiday visitors we should have our work cut out for us on January 25th!

The sign is right as you come over the hill and go right to the back, you are correct purer00r. They have signs to the left of that also, its really not the best backstop for shooting cause the hills are a little low. no problem for the pics, I might be going back on Friday to check it out and shoot a little. If your out there and see a "Don't tread on me" flag that most likely will be me, LoL. stop by and say hi.

Yep, I agree the front does look better than back as far as right now,LoL. We should have plenty to clean by the end of Jan. I did take out 2 bags of shotgun shells with me, and I don't even own a shotgun, LoL.

How have I not seen this before now? it was even me who threw out the date of the 25th to do it.

Not sure what all I will take. With a few on CGers going with me its going to be a bit of a chore wrangling everybody, getting us all there in which vehicles, etc. At a minimum it will be some HD trash bags.

From the pictures posted in the other Steele Peak thread, it looks to be about 1-2 inches.

Looks like I can help, baring any family medical stuff. Let me know if the 25th date changes, too. (I don't get much of a chance to visit CALGUNS as often as I use to.)

I'll be there. I've never been to a clean up event. I need clarification about the spot. I believe this is the same spot i had been shooting at for a while now, but i come in from the 15 not the 215.
