Exclamation Frazier Park range clean up

Frazier Park is 40 minutes South of Bakersfield, and 40 minutes North of Santa Clarita. The range is about 15 minutes from Frazier Park.
The local dump is on your way out of Frazier Park (it's in Lebec).

I haven't picked a day out. What would work for everyone? The dump is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Depending on how many people want to show, and if weather permits, I might just bring out the BBQ.
The weather has been breezy lately, with a temperature around 50 at the highest.

This is my home range. It is outdoor and full of garbage. I'm at the range at least once a week and I don't believe anyone attempts to clean. They just see it as a local dump. One man can only do so much. Looking for some back up!

I think he was asking where in Frazier Park.

Let me know when, if I can, I'll join. What kinda trash we talking? Appliances, brass, diapers, everything? I don't have a pickup, but I can bring trash bags and a generator if we need it.

Frazier Park is a small town. population around 2500. It is up the road from the fire station. When the cleanup is scheduled (raining/snow right now), I will plan a spot to meet up before going to the range.
I have been taking trips to the dump in my pickup with everything from blown up big screen tv's, tires, plastic chairs, rims, glass, dvd players, baby toys, etc.
Trash bags would be great for ammo boxes, cups, etc. If there aren't a lot of pick up trucks coming, we could gather everything in a couple of piles and I'll be willing to make all of the necessary dump runs.

Please inform me of a date. I can't commit until a date is set due to conflicting schedules. Kids little league and soccer. But have a truck and would like to help.

My buddy just told me about FP last night as I was unaware you could shoot there. This thread just confirmed it's GTG, so it looks like we will have to sign up.

If it's on the weekend, we're interested in going this or next weekend.

Because I will be in leaving for Alaska on the 27th, let me know if these dates work for the rest of you.
February 23rd (this Thursday), and February 25th (this Saturday). Both days the local dump will be open.
We will need gloves and trash bags for all of the glass/smaller stuff (lots of it).

Edit: For anyone who is interested, PM me and I will give you my phone number.

So I have cleaned up as much of the big stuff as I can.
Items to bring: firearms, ammunition, food, water, trash bags, gloves, ammunition, rakes, tables (if you have any).
Thanks everyone!!

Sounds like I'm not too far but never been to this range. I don't know if I can make this weeks planned trip but I would like to help out on future cleanups. So keep me in mind, I have a small pickup.

I was there about 1 week ago and yea its getting worse. My friends and I go by the "pack it in pack it out" rule so we always take our stuff. I did my best at cleaning 12ga shells but my goodness there are so many.

EDIT:
Just wanted to know exactly when this day of cleanup is? Gas is terrible right now but Im willing to make a trip out there and meet more Calgunners.

Is this particular range really accessible with a standard 2WD car? I've been up in the area with friends before looking for areas to shoot, and we opted for another area after being told you needed a Jeep or similar to get to this range near the fire station.

Ive noticed the area behind the fire station in Frazier Park is getting more and more trash. I think this is due to the are by kings campground (through gorman) was shut down because people were bring ovens and surfboards to shoot and leaving trash everywhere. Those people leaving trash are now going to the fire station because it is 15 mins away. I dont see any dates set but im in for the clean up. keep me posted

I was up here monday morning around 10:30. The road was closed so i called the sheriff dept. They said they are going to be closing the road PERMANENTLY because of fires. Has anyone else heard this?

Talked to someone in Mt. Pinos Ranger Office today. Was told still closed as of now, but they will reopen after cleanup. That was good to hear. Once open we should make sure it stays clear of morons/idiots.

I can make some of those, if I get permission to use the logo. We can print signs, as well as shirts, etc.

Let me know if you guys do a clean-up there and I'll get Glock1973 some signs/stakes.

We should also encourage people to carry fire extinguishers, shovels for safety. Might not be a bad idea to post that on signs. Little things we can all do to keep Frazier Park safe.

I went to this range on Sunday and the access road was closed and locked. Anyone know of any spots to go around the same area? I used to go back by kings campground but I was told that was shut down due to people leaving trash everywhere. Seems like the way to go is to find a nice spot and tell no one about it.

There was a very large fire there recently, Reyes canyon area to be specific. Approx. 200 acres were burned.

Is this a show up and shoot range? It's quite a distance (from Covina) but would be glad to help out if it's a clean all morning - lunch - shoot in the afternoon with the last hour another clean up session. Let me know where/when

Is this anywhere near Lockwood Valley? My sons and I would go there to "target shoot" and camp. It is in the Los Padres NF (Near Ozena) and they put up a No Target Shooting sign when we were last there. I would be willing to help clean up your FP area to have a place to shoot and I have a pickup and flatbed trailer.
I emailed the LPNF headquarters asking about where I can shoot in the forest and this is what I was told.

Hello,

At this time, target shooting is prohibited in all areas of Los Padres National Forest. We are in Level III Fire Restrictions – meaning, no target shooting allowed except at gun clubs. The restriction period is usually in place until mid-late November. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/lpnf/n...TELPRDB5384901
