Default GEN5 G17 and 19 update

Continue testing the GEN5's . G17 and G19. About 500 rounds through each gun already.

For accuracy , I like the serrated trigger on GEN4 and GEN3 better.
Taking it out to 25 yards and beyond , the accuracy is similar with GEN2/3/4 9mm Glocks.
No malfunctions of any kind.

So far its just another 9mm Glock with different options.

PS. Waiting for Heinie sights to arrive and then will be doing some serious accuracy testing.

Yay. It's like having Bluetooth as a standard feature in 2018 Nissan Versa. Still drives like a Nissan Versa.

Op your gen 5 glock is only a flock just like you said at the end of the day it still shoot like every other gen glock. Did you get to see the real gen 5 glock on YouTube, the first FAM with just a few clicks and mod to make make it happen. Every glock that has the FAS or equipped like the 18 is a real glock

OP I appreciate your review on the gen 5 G17 & G19. Yes a Glock is just another Glock, but they do have models and generation designation on them. For folks that are left handed the ambi slide stop is a blessing. I tried the trigger on a G17 Gen5 and it is different than my G23 and 27 (both gen3). I do have a G40 MOS that has a similar trigger like the G17 Gen5 have I handled.

Some folks will stick to their finger grooved Gen 3 & 4. Me I prefer the finger grooves gone. I was hoping for a redesign of the trigger guard to incorporate a relief cut on the underside.

My main concern is with the new barrel. Glock moving away from the type of barrel they claimed for decades to be more superior than traditional rifling says a lot. With the claim of better accuracy with the Gen5 barrel and of course safe to shoot with lead cast bullets. I'm interested to see what loads have better accuracy, although it's subjective to a specific firearm and tolerances.

Its still polygonal. Early reports were calling it traditional style lands and grooves but it isnt.

How did your hands feel about shooting with that cut out on the grip? Any "comfort" or pinch issues?

Normal pricing is Reno and AZ gunshop pricing. My RTF2 Glocks are just fine for me.

I got my G19G5 out of jail today. I spent some time dry firing and giving it a quick field strip and exam tonight. This is what I notice right away, compared to handling my other Glocks extensively:

The trigger feels crisper. The reset is more tactile and perhaps a tad shorter. The barrel to slide interface is tighter, much tighter. At the barrel hood / chamber and also the muzzle - it fits tighter in the slide - really noticeable. The barrel lug is different. The recoil spring feels stronger, although it is brand new and never shot. It looks the same, but it feels stronger. Putting the slide assembly back on the gun takes much more effort because the fit of parts overall is tight. Again this is brand new, but I have field stripped brand new Glocks before and this is something different. It is possible the stronger feel of the recoil spring has to do with more preload from a slightly extended barrel lug. I have not measured to see.

The G5 series are rumored to have different recoil timing, to be more reliable with weak mag springs and also with items hanging off the rail. If so then that is what some of this change is about, especially the different barrel lug.

I guess I will have to shoot it to figure out more. I thought maybe I would squirrel it away and not shoot it, but F that! Now I gotta know what these changes add up to

With all the recent videos of Gen5 Glocks being fired I noticed the brass is ejecting consistently to the right, unlike some Gen 4s.

Yup, gun counter at Cabela's says after the first week, the demand is way down. Every non CA gun shop has them now.

If CZ can only learn from Glock...

Default GEN5 accuracy testing. UPDATE

I am about half way done with GEN5 G17 evaluation.

Recently , I did some extensive accuracy testing. My verdict is that GEN5 G17 IS INDEED more inherently accurate than my GEN2/3 and 4.

The problem is that only VERY experienced shooters, shooting 25 yards and beyond and using premium ammunition will be able to tell the difference.

I should complete my G17 GEN5 evaluation by the end of next week. I like it so far , but my duty G17 GEN3 is not going anywhere anytime soon.

What? Glock Perfection went back to standard rifling for better accuracy?

I am very content with my G17 OD Gen 3 too and I EDC a G19 Gen 3. Thank you for sharing.

Default DONE WITH GEN5 G17!

ALL DONE WITH GEN5 G17!

Other than Heinie SlantPro target sights the gun is 100% stock.

Several combat courses , bullseye courses, steel shooting , etc.

Outstanding performance ( just like all my 9mm G17's , GEN2/3/4).

The only thing that was VERY different is the accuracy......

More like a hybrid between polygonal and standard.
