has this cartridge been made? .429/45acp
since the 230gr 45acp bullets cant take the velocity the rowland dishes out why didnt they make it a .429 and use the .44 mag bullets??
give me a 240gr gold dot going 1200fps from a strengthened 45acp case and id be a happy camper! anybody making these?

.22 Epperson Cricket or .22 Pokey is .222-45ACP
.38-.45ACP has been done as Clerke and Hard Head .355- 45ACP is .38 Casull .400 CorBon is .40-45ACP I can't find anything for .429-45ACP or any wildcat based on the Rowland. Someone somewhere has done it most likely, but did it on their own and didn't may any news in doing it. The next steps I would take is cross post this on the different handloading/Rowland forums, call RCBS, Redding, CH 4D, etc. and ask if anyone has had them make dies, etc. Good Luck Criss |

I think I will wait for the .357-223sabot so that we can all shoot .223 from our wheel guns...

it shreds the soft, deep cavity 45acp hollowpoints from too much velocity, they are made to work in an 800fps to 1000fps window. the 460 rowland cranks the velocity up too high for the bullets to function properly.
if they had just used the proper bullet that was made for the higher velocity there would not even be a problem. There is some "institutional stupidity" in trying to stay with the .45 caliber when the bullets aren't made for that speed but likely did it just to be a ".45".

Says here the 200 & 230 XTP is good for 1250fps. Would the 240gr XTP MAG be an option?

My point. I shoot cast lead from 460 S&W. Leaves a wash in the barrel, I have "grey bore". each round washes out the old stuff, leaves new stuff, and 100 yard rested groups are just a few inches. Good enough. But if I judged a bad bullet by grey-bore, I'd say the bullet is incompatible. And miss out on some pretty accurate loads! And 460 S&W has way more pressure and speed issues than 460 Rowland. I cannot imagine a bullet that I couldn't make work in a 460 Rowland. Including plain base soft cast lead.
