In case this info is useful to anyone....I just got back my last volreg featureless rifle - submitted May 20 on paper - received this week. I had another Volreg through CFARS from April that came through a couple of weeks ago.

Well I just got the dreaded email with incomplete status and the following message

"•Please identify which caliber you would like, recorded under your name. The Automated Firearms System is only able to capture one caliber."

I thought including pictures of my lower receiver showing that it says MULTI for caliber would make a difference, but apparently it makes no difference. These people are complete idiots.

For those of you who got the same BS email, what issue type did you choose in the menu when Reporting an Issue? What # can I call to get in contact with the numb nuts at DoJ?

not sure I want to put a single caliber on a receiver that says MULTI. what if i want to change the caliber later on? I wonder if they will now ask you to provide pictures of the caliber stamp on the barrel.

You can change caliber on guns you bought from the LGS anytime you want, it's no different with self built firearms.

Submitted the registrations for my 80% receivers to California Firearms Application Reporting System (CFARS) on June 26th.

Nothing yet.... I checked the status and each one still says "Pending".
WTF?

I know all of us are in the dark in this dilemma, and confused but hopefully I can alleviate some of that tension.

On 6/14/2018 Application was Submitted for one AR15 80% lower not just the lower but it was fully assembled did not provide pictures at this time because they were not required by the VolReg. And so far this is the result

on 10/18/2018 I received this From CFARS: Verify your answer to the question "receiver only?". If the firearm is fully assembled, it is not receiver only. Please provide the caliber and barrel length of your firearm.
Re-submitted on 10/18/2018

On 10/19/2018 I received this from CFARS:
Please provide clear full-length pictures of both sides of the firearm, one close up of the serial number, magazine release, make and model. Upload these pictures to this transaction and resubmit for processing. Resubmitted on 10/19/2018

on 10/23/2018 I received this from CFARS:
The California Department of Justice has received your electronic application and will begin processing your submission. You will be notified of the results via U.S. Mail. If you have any questions, please use the Report an Issue feature in the CFARS application https://cfars.doj.ca.gov.

Im just waiting now I dont know how long this wait will take so once I receive the letter I will post the result but until then good luck to all of us.

Got my Fail notice from cfars on 80%pistol builds.

I marked multi...they want caliber. Whats odd is one is marked send pictures while the rest are not.

Really disappointing.

Did anyone successfully enter system, change from multi to a specific caliber and get a "congratulations ".

Seems wrong and they are forcing you to misrepresent your lower when its engraved Multi

Just got fails back.

ARs say: "Please identify which caliber you would like, recorded under your name. The Automated Firearms System is only able to capture one caliber."

AKs say: "Please provide clear full-length pictures of both sides of the firearm, one close up of the serial number, magazine release, make and model. Upload these pictures to this transaction and resubmit for processing."

It looks like people are selecting an actual caliber for the ARs?

It's odd they ask for photos of the AKs but not ARs or ARPs...

Whats even the point of registering an 80%. I'd just toss it and buy a new lower for 50 bucks... Way less headache and potential for error...

Went through the same hula hoops as everyone else for my AR pistol 80%. Was kicked back due to interchangeable bbl selcted, re submitted on 9/27 ish as 5.56(lower engraved multi), kicked back asking for pictures, submitted pictures. Received approval letter a couple days ago. Just gotta have patience. It was frustrating for sure.

Before July, it was $19 for as many as you wanted to register in a single session.
You cant dros even one lower for that.

I just got a fail letter but it didnt state why it just seems like the reason it failed was due to not having pictures? Copied from my email.

The California Department of Justice has received your electronic application; however, it cannot be processed for the following reason(s):

Please provide clear full-length pictures of both sides of the firearm, one close up of the serial number, magazine release, make and model. Upload these pictures to this transaction and resubmit for processing.

Funny thing is I did 4 total and I just received individual emails for the other three stating that they were being processed

Same, submitted 2 rifles late July and 6 more earlier in the year, nothing. Been looking at all mail, nada.

If they wanted us to volreg, then we tried. I have website proof and the receipts for the payments.
