Fun with Paracord and a M&P45 :D
My m&p45 is a little slippery. Not a fan of rubber wraps as they tend to grip my clothes and I don't like grip tape because when the edges start to curl it just drives me nuts.
I had used the inside strands of some paracord for sewing up a holster for it and I had this outer tube left. Was just messing around with wrapping it around my 45 and found that it made the grip quite nice. Played with different wrap patterns and found this one to be the cleanest. Took it shooting and I loved the feel. Gives a lot of grip without adding bulk (empty tubing). I'll leave it on for a few more range trips and decide if its what I really want. Just thought I would share. |

The paracord behind the trigger screams bad news. Keep things out of the trigger guard except the booger hook when you're ready to make bang.
I can see that para going upwards and binding the trigger in addition to the years of carry experience I've had that always reminds us nothing goes inside the trigger guard. |

pretty cool - i might have to try it. Howd you tie the ends off? Looks like at least 1 end is secured by the takedown tool somehow.
Ive tried grip tape but it caught on clothing. Was planning on trying the rubber loops but figured that it would get caught on clothes as well. |

That's pretty nice, and it looks good too. Not to mention it has the added feature of not holding fingerprints

The cord is not knotted, melted or glued, its just tucked in tightly. If you guys are interested I could try and make a short video on how I wrapped it. |

seems like that lower loop just above the magwell could create a mag seating issue if it shifts placement just a little bit.
That would kinda suck in dangerous situation.

While it has not been a problem that is the part i'm most concerned about. I have an idea on how to fix that so I'll be trying that tonight.

From a functional aspect, that looks like a HUGE improvement!

You mean sweat from my hand? I have not noticed it but I have yet to shoot it in the sun. I have paracord wrapped grips on a couple rifles for many years and have never had a sweat issue.
I can only remember one time during a pistol match were I was very nervous and noticed my hands were sweaty while walking up to the line. I bent down and rubbed a little dirt on my hands an that took care of the moisture. |

How about a little glue?
I train a little Okinawan Kobudo, and we have cord wraps on our sai. I've been taught to give the cords a coat of Elmer's white glue. It locks the cords together and gives them a little tackyness - kinda like micarta, but cheaper.
I like your final configuration, but I think a coat of Elmer's would keep everything in place. If you don't like the glue, it comes off with a soaking in water. |
