Default Savage 12 LRP

Hey dudes , thinking of joining the 6.5 CM bandwagon here soon , anyone here have any input on Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 ? Pros / Cons , haven’t found too much on it on the interwebs . Seems like most are doing chassis rifles.

Thanks .

A guy I shoot with has one, personally I think it has the best trigger I've ever pulled but I don't think its good enough to make a person forget about the mag issue. There are aftermarket solutions that will run you about $90 per mag.
I have a RPR and personally I'm not a fan of chassis guns overall but I fell into one for a price I couldn't resist, I still prefer a traditional stock but its hard to argue the adjust-ability/parts interchange/availability of the chassis systems.

Cons, Fail to feed issues, fail to eject issues, known poor extractor design, poor bolt ergos.

Pros, its cheap if thats what you want.

The reason why so many of us run and recommend Remington 700's or after market actions using that same pattern is because of all the aftermarket choices for it. Stocks/chassis, mags, bottom metals, triggers, sight bases, etc.

If your stuck on getting a factory rifle, I'd look at the Howa Bravo.

I bought a Bravo chassis for my 700 and love it. It has really the best of both a chassis and stock put into it. It has a full aluminum backbone, built in magazine system, and lots of mounting options up front, like a chassis. But it has a the butt end of a stock. Rides a bag easily, awesome vertical grip, and fully adjustable LOP and cheek riser.

I have one. Originally .243, then put in an XLR Carbon chassis. Converted to a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Shoots great now (I could not get the factory 243 barrel to shoot good beyond 600)

Trigger has been flawless when above 12oz pull.

Bolt lift is easy even with factory bolt and handle, though I will be changing to oversized soon. Does not always fully eject spent round if I run bolt slowly as the next round will knock the case from under the extractor. When I run it normal speed, it works fine 100%.

I used to shoot one in Long Range at Camp Pendleton

Used for about 500 rounds when I bought it

Best I ever did with it was 194 / 11X

So . . . ?

Perfect score is 200-20X so, yeah, 194-11X at either 800, 900, 1K is very respectable. Each ring is 1/2 MOA from center on the target.....

I have one in .260 and it shoots lights out with the OEM HS Precision stock bedded. I also upgraded the factory bottom metal to a CDI precision so I can run AI mags. The gun shoots .5 MOA all day long with handloads. For that price I have been extremely happy with it.
