Default So, I was done buying rifles..... Until...

Finally finished with my inventory and oiling of every firearm in my collection last week. I told myself... I have too much stuff.

NO MORE, unless it was some sort of FN-49 that I don't have, and is in excellent condition.

So this happened.

I missed this exact rifle 19 years ago when it previously sold.

It will be here next week.

I've been looking for a Egyptian FN-49 sniper for literally decades. Only seen one in person at the "SAR" show in Arizona about 15 or 20 years ago... The owner said it was for sale, but would never come up with a price...Saw it at the same show on multiple years...

I told the wife I bought it and it was "expensive"... Her response was "how long have you been looking for one?" I told her for over twenty years. She said... "Neat". She didn't even blink when I told her the price. Love her!!

I am going to start selling stuff though. No need for two's and three's of the same rifle or pistol.

The sling is USGI and not correct. Everything else is as it should be.

One of around 30 ever imported into the US.. Only around 100 ever produced.

I fell in love with the FN-49 series when I saw and bought my first rifle which was a Luxembourg sniper rifle on 5-10-1986 at the Great Western Gun Show in Pomona CA.

Been chasing them ever since.

Congrats on finally finding one! Only 100 ever produced and only 30 ever imported is an amazingly small pool to be searching for. FN-49's in general are classy battle rifles.

Outstanding! I remember sending that to Jimja, I said "ask SVT what he thinks", his response was "he bought it".

Congratulations!

Nice pickup...I was going to send Dennis an “I’ll take it!!” email on that one, but as I reread the description, it said “flash hider” so a no-go in CA, haha!!

Congrats...what a neat rifle.

Don't know which I'd rather have, the rifle or the wife. That's a tough one.

Thanks!!

I called as soon as I got the email. so it was gone in 60 seconds!! Dennis was just delayed a bit posting the "sold" on his site...

The muzzle device is actually a muzzle brake...

That's how FN described them in their original description, so you would have been okay having it!!

The only contract countries which used the muzzle brakes were Venezuela, who used them on all their rifles, and Egypt, who used them only on their sniper rifles.

I'm pretty excited to get this one...

It was a bit expensive... Far and away the most expensive rifle I have ever purchased by a factor of almost 4x... So I was a bit leery as to what the wife would say... Especially because I'm retired, and she is still working

But it was a non event...

Yeah, she's a keeper...

The wife, I mean.. LOL

Yeah, near museum piece? Everything in tack and all matching...and how much did you pay if I may ask? Personally, I'd never shoot it. Very happy for you.

Rifle or wife? Rifle or wife? That always seems to be the question. However, when I finally bought my safe several years ago, the first thing my wife said to me when she saw it (with only like two things in it!) was "Well then, it looks like we are going to have to fill this up!" I fell in love all over again.
