Very popular way to shoot long range setups now. It's even advocated on the Magpul training disks Art of the precision rifle taught by Todd Hodnett with Accuracy first training and consulting http://accuracy1st.com/
However, he does recommend using the wrap around grip technique for AR platforms only to say do what works best and builds consistency. If you are consistently good with the thumb over then keep doing that. Adam B, have you checked out the Magpul Art of the precision rifle? It's a great training aid and helped me understand some of the basics better and improved my shooting after I got my Savage 10 FP. If not I would recommend checking it out if you are serious about improving long distance shooting without having to pay out the nose for their course or travel a long distance to get the training. |

How much did that bad boy set you back? The M110 is nice but the but stock alone is $500. To rich for my blood.

Here is my soon to be precision rifle. It is a Remington 700SPS in .308. In addition to the stuff with it I will soon have a Harris Bipod and later a Bell & Carlson M40 stock. The scope is an old Taso 3x9 that I had in the closet and am saving up the money to get a goo one.

So since we are friends I can say that you are full of it. Eevery rifle you just posted is following all the current trends out there, Rem 700 in (super expensive stock here) with your nightforce optic on top...how is that different from the group??? So I wasn't born with all the knowledge out there on how to shoot long distances like you. Fact I bet you never had to go to school, you just knew everything. I'm just saying this as a friend... For the rest of us mortals, we have to have some instruction before we just start lobbing rounds down range. Too bad all our Military folks have to go through all that trendy training and can't just pick up a rifle and shoot sub MOA at a 1000 yards like you. |

That McRee is nice.
My buddy swears by them. He said he's jumped out of planes and landed on them more times than he can count on his fingers and toes during his time with group. Gun was still GTG! Glad they're gaining popularity. How do you like it, Adam B? |

Coming from the trolly guy........ That M70 is the FIRST mCgress stock built for a M70, it has CUSTOM mags I designed and had scott build for me. I guess thats a follower right? That M70 was one of the FIRST rifles that used special AICS mags CUSTOM modified (when only AICS made chassis and mags for 2.800 COAL).........

Point is, the method of shooting you dislike so much is one that is taught by someone who does more than "designs" guns and post pictures of them on the internet. And training comes in all kinds of forms, not just paying out the butt for some guy to tell you what to do. To bad so many shooters like you are so closed minded to new ways of learning. But if that works for you, kudos just back off of me and others that enjoy the way we do things. Have a good one. |

I've taken the Magpul PR class, and I was encouraged to shoot without wrapping my thumb around the back of the grip on my AR-10.
The instructor, Ceylon, is not teaching it to be trendy. It's just a tool to try. Last edited by luvtolean; 08-28-2012 at 2:17 PM.. |

Not you, in between my post and yours was some guy peddling metal detectors. Was a first post with a link to sales completely unrelated to this kind of stuff. Your stuff looks great! His, not so much. One of the only threads I have ever reported.
