Default Should I switch my Conceal Carry EDC? Ultra CDP II for Shield 2.0 9mm

Thinking about trading in my EDC. I love my Ultra CDP Ii but dang it's heavy.

I'm looking to carry something a lot lighter, specifically a M&P Shield 9mm. It'll be a lot easier to carry especially living in the desert where its hit and shorts and light shirts/tank tops is all I own.

I would be looking at trading my 1911 for the M&P. But I am finding that it's difficult to get a fair trade in value for my 1911. I was hoping to get $800.

With all of that out of the way, my question to you all is would you trade in your Ultra CDP II for a M&P Shield 2.0 & cash?

Sounds like a fair trade. U canít get a shield 2.0 for less than 600 here not unless your a Leo. I myself is looking but cheapest I saw was 700-800.

Yep. But why the 2.0? Looking for the better grip and trigger?

I fired both weapons at the range and the ultra carry 1911 has a better trigger.

The 1911 is quite snappy compared to the shield 2.0 9mm. I like the way the shield shot. I was hitting everything with it.

Have you thought about getting the 1st gen shield? Right now I believe you get a $50 rebate. I would like a 2.0 also but I ain’t paying $700 for one.

Yeah all options are open. Doesn't even have to be a new gun. I just want a fair value trade. I'll probably just keep my 1911 and look for a used shield 1.0

This is your best bet. $300 for a CA Shield and $4-500 off roster shield (no lci, mag disconnect).

Youíll regret selling the CDP. I have a CDP and first-gen Shield listed and each has its purpose.

Yep. Ended up keeping my CDP. Took it to a couple shops. Highest offer was $750. I couldn't take that hit. Ended up getting a used 1st Gen used shield.

Thanks for the input/opinions CalGuns.

I was gonna say...keep the CDP and get the Shield. Now you have a backup on your permit if one goes down.

I dropped my Ultra CDP for a SIG P365 and left the Shield 1 on it. The third is a revolver.

No way would I sell my CDP though.

If you can at all afford it, keep your CDP, you will regret getting rid of it. Yes a Shield is an easier gun to carry and I recommend it, especially with a Strike Industries EMP extension on the 7 round mag to make it 9, and give a better purchase on the weapon, but a good .45 is one of those things you own because it's classic, not because your going to use it everyday. The Shield is functional, a good tool, but the trigger on any striker fired gun is never going to match a well built 1911 single action.

Do it if you haven't.

I switched my ultra raptor to a Shield and then bought another Shield, my first in plastic and 9mm.

The Raptor was lousy from urban and roll over prone positions, would never pick up the next round from the mag, only what was in the chamber would fire from those positions.

I have 9,000 rds through the Shields now with zero hiccups on any type of ammo from any shooting position, no Kimber will ever give your life that type of reliability.

Both have Apex DCAE kits, trijicon HD on the edc and trijicon fiber optic on the practice and magguts plus 2 mags. All of those changes were well worth it.
