Default OC area locations plinking with a .22?

Picking up a .22 for my daughter and was wonder if anyone knew of a great place to plink in the OC area? I normally go to an indoor range for handguns, but would like to find a place outdoors. A range is fine but prefer it to be outdoors. Any suggestions?

It's a bit of a drive but the Rainbow Shooting Range has a couple of "rimfire only" ranges including a plinking range. You have to join but it's not terribly expensive.

It's a nice outdoor range - well, maybe "nice" is a stretch, but it is safe and well managed, just not too fancy.

Been a member at Rainbow for a number of years. I like that its not "fancy".
About 55 minutes from south OC.
Worth it to me to shoot outdoors.

Rauuhages (near the 91/71) allows steel target and even has a steel gallery available...perfect for .22 LR.

It’s also 30 bucks for two hours and always packed... Burro Canyon costs half that, is a nicer drive, and you can stay all day.

To actually answer the question. NO. There is absolutely NOWHERE actually IN OC to shoot rifles of ANY caliber outdoors. There is a private skeet club somewhere down in SJC I believe but that's it. You will have to drive at least 45 minutes to an hour to get to an outdoor range from anywhere in OC.

Lol. We used to hunt in Trabuco Canyon, Quail Valley, etc. Used to be several places along Angeles Forest Hwy, too. My uncle had a mining claim and cabin up the locked dirt road out of Monte Christo campgrounds. Prior to that, he had an interest in the Falcon Mine off Angeles Forest.
