I would call a rifle that can achieve 1.5 MOA a fairly precise rifle. It's not a sniper rifle, but precise nonetheless. Your standard M16 battle rifle is a 3-4 minute weapon. Not precise and not designed to be.
I think to qualify as a "Sniper rifle", the rifle must be in the hands of a legit "Sniper".

Any dick can shoot an accurate rifle off a bench or bags at paper at 100 yards, doesnt make him a "sniper".

I guess the bench and bags are OK for the initial dial-in, but I stay away from them.

CavTrooper, I shoot right here in the great state of Georgia, when can you make it?
The suppressor only range (135 yards max) I'm building on my property is not
complete yet, but GunSite Hills is not terribly far away.

Gunsite Hills... 4 hour drive... I might could make it up there for a match weekend or something. Do you shoot those tactical matches? They look like fun. I might have to roll up for the match on the 23rd.

Im building a 200 yard range on my property down here in Long County, so if you and your guns ever find yourselves down here, come on by for some shootin and some bbq pork!

As I stated before, designating a rifle as a sniper rifle is actually measurable nomenclature. It has nothing to do with whose hands it is in.

Transversely, if a card-carrying sniper in the Marine Corps is armed with a standard issue M16A4 with an ACOG mounted on it, it does not make that rifle a sniper rifle. The weapon is not capable of achieving the standards required to designate it as such.

You are correct. I'm not sure what this comment has to do with the original question, but you are correct. There is a whole lot more to being a sniper than just running around with a sniper rifle.

Default Ruger M77

Can I join in on all the fun? Here's my baby, a tang safety Ruger M77 chambered in .308 with a bull barrel. Not exactly super precision (Or maybe it is... I haven't tried ) but it serves me well!

PS: H2O MAN, can I have your M14???

Lefty Rem 700 in .308 with a 26" barrel. 20 MOA Scope mount EGW , SWFA SS 10x42 Rifle scope, Bushnell Rings, Rifle level, Harris bipod with pod-loc, Quick Cuff M24 Model Sling.

This was built as a 'starter rifle' to do some long range shooting. I figured If I enjoyed the venue and was half way decent, I could upgrade scope etc later. Unfortunately, my time has been somewhat limited of late. At this point, its only been to the range and to shoot some steel up in the nearby national forest.

Taken at the Manteca Sportsmen this morning. 100 yards, 5 shots of 168 gr Federal Gold match. Farthest edge hole to hole is 7/8 inches. Rifle probably can do better but this is about as good as my skill level can do at this point.

Good stuff. Are you a member? I'd like to get out to that club and try shooting at the 200 yard range. Rumor has it one has to be accompanied by a member to do so

Well you get to many ideas with gun choices and options from everyone on calguns, so here's my version of a Remy 700 26" with AICS. I got kind of an overkill scope, hopefully to mount on a 338 Lapua magnum eventually to, and maybe even some NV on the MARS rail. The IOR 4X28x56 scope with a 40mm tube is super clear and bright, gotta smoking deal out in Vegas so I'm happy with her. So far broke her in cleaning it after ever 3 rounds shooting 100 yards, went out to 200 yards and got like a 4 inch groups, so far 60 rounds through her and can't wait until I take her out again. First time with a long range rifle and bolt action for that matter. hopefully get out to as far as I can before I get anything bigger with more expensive ammo.

I was more worried about cleaning it through the break in process, and had a time frame to shoot that day, I know it has way more potential, once I get a day off without guests coming over, I'm sure now that the scope is zeroed and am familiar with it, there is a lot to learn. Just have to burn through a ton of ammo, its like racing you're not gonna go fast without burnin' through a bunch of tires right?

Can't wait to shoot this at Angeles on Sunday. We'll see how it does at 600 yards. My second precision rig, first one was a 700PSS but I love this lighter rig more.

Will use this as a handy 20" rifle capable of 1000yd with some 175gr SMKs once I get into reloading, local range only goes out to 600 so lighter loads will work. Light and handy enough for hunting too if I wanted to get into that.

Only possible upgrade now is a Badger Thruster brake I have in stainless that I'll park or krylon and put it on. Would get R&D Precision to thread and brake, labor cost is about $105.

Savage 10FP Tactical 20" .308
3.5lb trigger
Bell and Carlson Stock
Krylon tigerstripe color scheme (forget the exact colors)
Harris BRM Swivel 6-9"
Millett TRS 1 4-16x50 mil/mil
Warne Tactical 20MOA mount, Weaver 30mm rings
Custom bolt handle
Montana Sling black leather sling w/ Uncle Mike attachments

^I have always liked the twins! How is the Razor holding up?

Here is my contribution, but my rifle rarely poses for pictures so mostly it is looking downrange! (where it should be!!!) And my Tikka is almost here, so I will post it up when I get a chance! 5 days left!
