All right Randall, that was really random. You saying you aren't coming back, or are you a zombie now. If so, I may need you to build me a long range zombie gun.

Looks like it might be a Remington 700 action in a Manners T4 stock with Badger DBM.
Great looking rifle.

What do think about the Armalite AR-30 in either .308 or .300 Win Mag? As for accuracy, reliability, etc, does anybody own one and post pics if you do.

Funny enough I just bought an AR-30 in 300win mag and I'll be taking it out to the range on Monday. I would like to post a picture of the rifle and how it shoots in the same post, if you can wait until then

Awesome. I have been looking at those in the .308/.300wm or the Savage 110BA as well. Hard decision as so many parts of them are really similar.

BEAUTIFUL! Accurate and Precise! I am thoroughly jealous of simplicity that flat works.

Optics included, whats the price breakdown on that gun?

  • 700P - $600 (traded into it; $1000 was the value of whatever I traded and it came with an optics setup that I sold for $400. In process of trying to sell the HS Precision stock)
  • Manners T4 w/mini chassis - $840
  • Vortex - $800
  • Seekins rings - $120
  • EGW 20 MOA base - $45
  • Badger brake - $145
  • Bolt knob - $30
  • Bipod and pod lock - $110
  • Jewell trigger - came with the gun
  • Total: $2690

AR-30 time

A very fun gun to shoot and own . However you are not going to have a lot of friends on the range. I had a stupid moment sighting in the rifle, I had it in my head that the scope was a FFP scope and was assuming the mil-dots were correct no matter the magnification. So at the 100 yard line I was pretty much chasing zero for 8 rounds until I upped the magnification from 10 to 20 and realized I was being dumb and owned a SFP scope. After I stopped being stupid the rifle was zero'd in 4 shots. It was a very costly mistake, I'm just thankful 300win-mag is not as expensive as .338LM.

Thats a factory Armalite AR-30 in .300 Win Mag with a Burris XTR scope. Looks like a Harris 9-13 bipod and thats about it. They go for about $1600 or so for the rifle alone and are tac drivers from the factory. Shillen factory barrel and a great trigger as well.

I only had a chance to put 20 rounds through it today. It's shooting about 1.5 moa at the moment. I'm expecting to accuracy to improve when the barrel gets a nice healthy coat of copper

Default TC Venture

TC Venture, .308, EGW 10 degree rail, SWFA SS 10 x 42 mildot on steel rings, VAIS brake.

Anyone take the Precision Rifle Course at FS? I did, had a good time, met a bunch of great guys there. Was REALLY windy, so it made training great!! Both guys on each side of me had brakes, my shooting eye was sandblasted!!

Cannot wait to go again!

Did some load development of the above rifle today, several recipes ranging from 2700-2950 FPS and ~0.4 to 2.0 inch groups but found this one to be the best.

Thanks!

Not yet but I have 1000 69 Noslers to try out soon. SMK's are just too expensive nowadays.

I was also getting good results (almost similar) with TAC and RL-15 using LC cases. I'll have to fine tune the loads with those powders. Benchmark is also a consideration in the future.
