Default Get kicked out of a gunstore for calling FUD..acheivement unlocked

Went to my LGS against my better judgement. They always end up pi$$ing me off with FUD. I went there just to see if any rareish milsurp rifles had shown up. As I walked the racks I saw a Saiga with a 20 inch barrel. I have been conteplating getting a 20 inch in .223 so I asked the lady what caliber it was. She told me it was 7.62x39 so I said "oh the SKS round" She tells me "NO its an AK round! SKS is different." I let that one go.
I asked to look at it and she tells me that you can "slap hicap AK mags in this thing no problem". I comment "and trigger 922r" She tells me "922r isnt real, its just made up to scare people into buying more parts". (should have walked out right there).
While looking the rifle over I said to myself (out loud), boy this thing needs a PG conversion (I already have a 223 and 308 Saigas converted). She tells me that that is illegal and I will go to jail. I said "I know I know it has to be mag-locked" She then tells me that NO centerfire rifle can have a pistol grip either fixed mag or mag locked. I then asked her why she had 3 SKS with Tapco T6 stocks on the rack and 5 ARs!!!!(I may have called her an idiot as well)
I was asked to leave........Acheivement unlocked.

No she isnt new, she is the owners GF. She is crazy though. As far as 922r goes, I dont think anyone has ever been convicted of breaking it but I dont plan on being the example either.

That is why I don't ask questions and I do my own research. But seriously though since you knew all the answers why did you ask her anything at all?

Yes I probably was rude but this is not my first time dealing with this person. I should have known better, I walked into the shop knowing what would probably happen.
With all the laws we as california gun owners face I dont think we need LGS making up more laws. I wonder how many non informed people believe her at face value? And if your offering up some cookies then........

"Do this for 3 more gunshops and you can unlock the "FUD Destroyer" achievement"

or get asked not to return to every gun shop in the local.

I know it is frustrating getting FUD in a shop, but to push it to the point of not being allowed back in?

(yes I realize he was not 86'ed, but if you walk in with an attitude of "FUD THIS!" and get asked to leave, you may find yourself looking for an FFL in another town)

Some things you have to let go.

P.S. Wow, type out an answer and before hitting "submit" there are 2 others....

The only questions I asked were what caliber the rifle was, and if I could see it. My "mistake" was commenting on 922r and the pistol grip conversion.

The customer is always right, unless there are firearms nearby.

Gun Shops do seem to have a disproportionate amount of 'tude, as do high-end audio shops.

It's a federal law with bizarre nonsensical BATFE rulemaking that nobody (other than importers) would have ever heard of if Tapco didn't make a lot of money selling conversion parts.

I've given up trying to correct gunshop staff.
Don't argue with them... they work in a gunshop so the mus'be x-perts.

Customers, at least, can be persuaded to look up the right answers themselves.

In a nutshell, 922r is triggered if you change an imported rifles "catagory". Ill use Saigas as an example because thats the rifle I know. It is imorted as a hunting/sporting rifle. The adding of a hi-cap mag or a pistol grip or a folding/collapsable stock changes its "catagory" from sporting to non-sporting or some such. To be legal under 922r you now can only have 10 or less foriegn made parts. The Saiga rifles have 14 countable foriegn parts so replacing 4 foriegn parts with 4 US made parts makes you 922r legal.
By the shop person telling me I can slap AK mags in the rifle would trigger 922r even if the mags were US made (you would be 1 countable part short).
But like I said, I dont think anyone has ever been charged/convicted of breaking 922r but i dont plan on being the first.

ugh there was a LGS near me, that when the OLL started to flow into the state, I asked if the sold them/will sell and they said it was a felony blah blah blah. a few months later they were selling them..and marked up double in price. I tend to think that the common gun stores need to be avoided and go off the vendors on calguns that are local.

I try to keep questions/comments to myself and resort to Calguns. Some gun shop owners have been known to spread FUD.

Tats why I dont ask question about laws at gun stores. I just go in there get what I need and leave. If i do ask a question is normally about reliablity or maybe something they have heard about a particular firearms im interested in.

You only get credit for squashing FUD if you, or an on-looker is somehow wiser as a result. You did not pounce out FUD, you simply argued with a FUD-infested fFreak-Tard and failed to convince her of her FUDness. In essence, you FAIL because you did nothing but waste your time arguing with a FUD-tard.

For an analogy, it would be like winning an argument against a retard... or Nancy Pelosi.

Id like to see some honest proof of that (otherwise, more fud?)

Its a very very impractical thing to enforce.
Some of my 922r compliance parts are NOT marked by a manufacturer, what more made in usa!?!? Who is say one could not just lie about it at that point?

I cant help but feel it was just made primarily for importation purposes, such as to prevent another flood of cheap norincos entering the market, and to help protect domestic manufacturers (anybody here who rides remember in the 80s when Japanese bikes got capped at 700cc?). Otherwise, whats the practical purpose of this law? Honest question.

What about the FUD that comes in from the street and ruins gun shops? I get it all the time. People come in and want a clip, but they really want a magazine. They talk about their illegal this or their illegal that. I tend to just let most of it flow, but occasionally you have to call people on their bull crap.

I especially like the guys who know the law better than I do. They try to tell me that the ARs on the rack are illegal. That is actually quite rare. Usually it is the question, "Are those legal?" I respond with a "No, but I'll sell you one random stranger who just walked in the door and I have no idea who you are."

FUD goes both ways.

Not to derail the thread too much, but there have been prosecutions for 922r...but all the ones I've been aware of have been importers openly flaunting the law on a large scale.

So many CA gunshops are full of these dildos, it wouldn't be that hard...

Maybe a better approach would be to distribute CGF literature? Let them realize on their own time they don't know jack.
