They’re asshats about PPT’s.

The last time I did a PPT there the guy behind the counter was complaining how he just made a whopping $10.

I second Gunther’s or Gunfighter Tactical.

Looks like gunthers is the way to go
Thanks everyone
You guys are lucky with the new CCW stance
Here in La county you’re pretty much a third class citizen unless you prove otherwise (aka $$$$$$$$)

And he's wrong? It takes, what a solid hour+ of time as well as storing (and being responsible for) the firearm for ten days, for $10? I don't blame any dealer who tries to avoid them.

Don't blame them... blame Sacramento.

Precision Gun Works in Vista

It's a little hole in the wall operated by two guys. Extremely friendly dudes, have never once gotten irritated or grumpy with my many PPTs or FFL transfers from online purchases. Absolutely recommend!

The point is that he shouldn't be complaining about doing his job.

I've done a few PPTs at Duncans in San Marcos. Always been a good experience although at times it can get busy in there

Exactly. Don’t complain about it.

And I’ve never been more than 15-20 minutes for a ppt at Gunther’s or Gunfighter

I just did a transfer with Precision Gun Works in Vista. They were great!

I have only had one interaction with north county firearms. I went in and was looking for a crush washer to change my muzzle break. I asked if they had gunsmithing on site and they said they did. I then asked if I could purchase some crush washers. The guy looked at me and said they didn't have any...

I walked out and decided to buy a pack online. What kind of gunsmith doesn't have crush washers?

I'll have to check out Gunther's. Never been.

North County off the I-15 corridor I use RDL Tactical. Rick (owner) is a good guy. Several PPTs and always no problem. I always call ahead since he prefers that.

I did a PPT there a few years ago and they treated us like absolute dogsh*t because we were a PPT. To make it worse, they could have chosen to pretend that they were slammed and just couldn't help us or something, but instead, they chose to tell us that since they don't make any money from PPTs, we weren't worth their time and they would get to us when they get to us. No ETA, no place in line, just sit there and wait until they felt like dealing with us. There are only two shops I have ever been to that I will never step foot in again, Duncans and ECGE, which is now gone.

There's no way to measure it, but I'd be really interested to know what percentage of people who just sold a gun and have a wad of cash in their pocket turn around and spend money at the shop they PPT'd at. I know I almost always do. Seems foolish to shoo away a potential customer who just got some extra gun money.

On topic, OP, if you are along the I-15, Cal Customs in Fallbrook is a really cool shop with excellent customer service.

I second this. Very cool owner. He’s the person that got me started on applying for my CCW.

There's a little gun store in Vista by Belching Beaver. They're in an old bank building. They're GREAT. Sorry, i can't remember their name.

Empowered firearms....

Sadly, They just closed their doors

They were super nice guys, great with PPT and always had great stock on parts. Any time I needed a Trigger spring or bolt carrier they were solid. I have spent lots of money in that store and didn't mind spending a more than online prices to support a local gun store.

I feel the same way about RDL Tactical in Esco, Gunfighter in Miramar, and Gunthers in carlsbad. All great customer service and staff.

In regards to profits on a PPT, isn't it required by law to do PPT's? I don't understand why it's so hard to offer quality service on them. I'm sure you could hire a $12 an hour guy to clean the shop and process PPT's. ?

I go back to the stores that treat me well and spend my money there. I personally enjoy supporting local stores, especially the ones with good customer service. Like stated above, I sell a gun and now I have a hand full of cash. I usually buy magazines, AR Parts, cases, ammo etc....I've even walked out a couple times with a new gun that was on sale and I couldn't say no to.

I'll have to swing by precision in the business park and check them out....
