Live in SF and have guns for sale
I was wondering if anyone knows any local shops that pay pretty good money for your used guns? I have a few I'm getting rid of, need to, long story but separating from my spouse so liquidating things. Anyhow, I posted them for sale here and such but I am thinking, in the interest of time, is there a place to sell them, other than a pawn shop that will give you crap money for them?
Thanks! Eileen |

No gun stores in SF any longer, outlawed by the city. There’s Imbert & Smithers in San Carlos, kerlys in San Jose, gun vault in Mountain View who all take and sell consignment guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Sell them here. You'll likely get better prices than any shop.
Go read the for sale rules and then post them at the MarketPlace. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...splay.php?f=91 I have seen many sold in minutes if you price it right. |

You don’t want to sell them directly - you won’t get very much for them if they offer to buy directly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

no shops pay "pretty good money" when buying, selling on consignment for you
will cost approx 20% fee of selling price to shop. Your best bet is PPT, unless you are content with taking a loss of money to save time. Good luck and all the best.

I used to have three but downsized and now just my Kimber TLE, black. She's pretty much new too, maybe 1000 rounds. I used to shoot a lot more, and worked at a shooting range for years, but then got into motorcycles and it's hard to do both

I know! Man, i took my CA legal AR to Nevada once and shot it at a range, got talking and let someone pop a few rounds (she's really sexy and ppl can't help it!) and when they couldnt take the mag out, without the bullet button option, they were like WTF?? Gave me a weird eye and I had to come clean, being from CA *sad*

So, the law changed in regards to what a CA Legal AR is right? Bullet button no longer works as legal correct?

stay away from south city pawn. they are only for desperados. but really I will just reiterate what everyone has said. these shops can usually pick up on your desire for a quick transaction and try to take advantage of you if you post things here for less than msrp they tend to go quick. of course higher end stuff needs a high end buyer so without details I can't give you much more guidance than that. sorry to hear about your misfortune and I hope out works out for you. any other assistance just post and I'm happy to help.

the wheelers and dealers are the Russians at city arms in Pacifica. I can't vouch for how good of a deal you'll get but they like to dicker and have the most flexibility in my experience. also I saw your rifle for sale. you may want to break up the package for a faster sale and possibly more money. very few people will want the exact same scope you haveso you'd be better served offering it separately or at least posting a separate price for rifle only. that's a nice 870 btw. perfect for this foggy climate too. shame you have to let it go.

NEVER bring a gun to a PAWN SHOP, they are probably worst than a used car salesman
pawn shops are for desperate people just trying to get rid of their valuables once they know you have no sentimental value or somebody gave it to you, etc, they will almost try to get it for nothing. and NEVER tell them how much you paid for it, they also use that against you. |

I've had good dealings with City Arms in Pleasant Hill. They charge 10% for consignment plus a flat $25 display fee. Not sure if the terms in the Pacifica shop are the same. The item I consigned took several months to sell, but I was nit in a hurry. Another option...

i dealt with city arms and "uncle" many years ago and they are wheelers and dealers and Dometrie (?) can get you all twisted up but I like them and always visit them when I am down on the coast. "Uncle" did right by me but things can change over time. Still have a good impression of them if you go by. No harm in talking to them and you seem to know your stuff so i doubt they will be pulling any games on you successfully.

South City Pawn posted a shotgun for sale not long ago on GunBroker. I went there, I handled it and I was ready to buy it. The price was definitely right. Then I came back the next day to do the Dros and the guy told me he couldn't sell it to me because it belong to the owner.
Shady people there. I came all the way from Clayton to do that as well. |

Putting them on consignment you will pay 25-35% fees. Post in marketplace and buyer pays fees and find a convenient ffl. Or if off roster ship to buyers fffl. You get all money upfront or no deal ever. Do not talk to anyone who wants gun shipped for inspection then they pay.
