Default Golden Rod in Safe

Just bought a 18" Golden Rod.

Any suggestions when installing it in my safe?

Will my wood rifles be dried out?

Thx

I've had one for years in my safe, bottom horizontal, and my wood hasn't cracked. I also put one of those desicant things in there just for good measure on the top shelf.

2nd that. Have only had mine a few months and it works well. Except if you allow someone in your safe be sure to tell them not to touch the gold thingy!

9 years and 2 climates, it still works and there are no problems with wood or rust.

I thought it was going to get much hotter in the safe but everything seems fine. Very happy - thanks again for the advice.

The rod only keeps the temprature up slightly to keep moisture from condensating on the metal. I assume the humidity level inside changes slightly depending on the season and how often you open the safe.

It is like your windshield with the defroster, the warm air keeps the moisture off the glass. IIRC the rod keeps itself slightly above ambient temp via a thermostat. HTH
