It started as a 1987 Egyptian AK47, Arabic numbers matching kit with Romanian barrel. Built on a CA legal O.O.W. receiver. I used the chemical etching template to engrave the correct selector markings. All of the metal is parkerized and coated in Brownells semi gloss black. Egyptian magazine kits blocked to 10 rounds per CA law.
![]() ![]() ![]() Alumahyde spray can gun paint. I scratched out the arabic markings again after the park and paint job. I couldnt decide weather to go for the battlefield pickup or fresh painted (crappy factory paint job) look- hence the worn in top cover but unscratched other parts. I'm going to wait and maybe do that to the rest of the rifle too. Not sure. This is my first AK assembly, done with the guidance of local builder. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Heres my first AK ...
shes different originally a 20.5" Barrel Saiga 7.62 that was converted... ![]() Then she stayed like that while I collected parts for 3weeks... And finally met up with Garren ( buellster )... I had him cut down the barrel to 14.5", thread it to 14x1, re crown the barrel, install and pin my Battle Comp AKBC, de pinned my gas block, and fit my Bolton Gas block/front sight... ![]() ![]() After I got her home from Norco to test fire how she ran... She ran flawlessly ran almost as flat as my 3gun AR. I think its because of the action on the AK thats why she wasnt flatter or just as flat as my AR. Give me a break its my first AK ... Well either way I hand fitted the Ultimak Gas Tube rail system; so I can my mount my new bushnell TRS 25 thats coming on Tuesday... ![]() ![]() I'm pretty happy how she turn out and I'm a very satisfied customer with Garren's work... I have only a few parts thats coming; a Krebs custom safety, a RAM enchanced magazine release, and a Tapco shepherd's hook... I went about building a solid 300meter gun thats quick and fast to point and transition with and keep as much wood furniture I can...

Thanks but I've heard the song and dance about the akbc... The ceo of Battle Comp says otherwise wise = " We are a CA legal compensator and we claim ZERO flash hiding capability. We chose our name purposely. Jailhouse lawyers are a pain."
and this video says its definite a comp ( a Battle Comp ) otherwise.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7pR...e_gdata_player Either way I would see it with their AR compensator especially the 1.0 BACB but not the akbc... apples to oranges... an ak is and ak and not an ar...

I did a ton of research and could find no better mount than that one. It is quality, however it is NOT cheap. |

My Polish under folder "battlefield pick up" style. Gunbroker parts kit + Nodak receiver. I wanted the final finish to match the condition that the parts in the original parts kit came in.
In California we have to keep long guns at 30" minimum, which explains the long muzzle brake from Atlantic Arms where I also got the U.S. barrel. I still wanted to be able to fold down the butt stock. What else I might do is put a slightly shorter compensator on and stick on a type of sling loop on the back in order to get the CA minimum 30 inches length in a different way other that using a 5" muzzle device. Tapco G2 trigger group, U.S. barrel, Nodak Spud receiver, U.S. 5" muzzle brake accounts for my U.S. parts count on this one. I still need to go back and engrave the selector markings. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() My AMD65 with BFPU hand guard. It took some convincing (ie. dremel) to get it on flush, given that the AMD65 lower hand guard retainer is more narrow and has two nipples pressed into it. In person, the hand guard really matches the Hungarian rear pistol grip. I also had to p-shop some of the inscriptions as I was told they were very offensive. ![]() |

Nice, they're finally in stock it seems... at least the black ones.
How do you like it? I'm contemplating this or the US Palm Battle Grip for mine. |

I like it, has a comfortable angle. Plus I run magpul grips on my AR's so it's a nice transition.
