Do you know why building a 12 round ammunition feeding device is a bad idea?

Asking us to help you do it is a worse one.

I just need extra capacity for 3-gun, seen similar set ups from other gunners. But if it’s a bad idea, then that’s an advise for consideration - can you tel me why?

Interesting that in the flow chart I do not see anything about capacity. Any reason it is not there? Might be somehow deceiving new gun owners. Or I miss something?

All firearms are prohibited EXCEPT .22 rifles with tubular magazines and lever action rifles with tubular magazines.

Shotguns are included in 'All firearms'.

If you use an extension, just keep it to 10 rounds max total in the mag for legality in this state.

Under CA laws...

It is illegal (felony) to extend the magazine capacity of a fixed tubular magazine on a bolt-action shotgun, pump-action shotgun, or semi-auto shotgun to be greater than 10 rounds. [PC 32310(a)]

It is illegal (misdemeanor) to import, make, sell, buy, or receive the parts to make a fixed tubular magazine on a bolt-action shotgun, pump-action shotgun, or semi-auto shotgun to have a capacity of greater than 10 rounds. [PC 32311(a)]

It is legal to extend the magazine capacity of a fixed tubular magazine on a lever-action shotgun to be greater than 10 rounds. [PC 16740(c)]

Penal Code 16740
As used in this part, “large-capacity magazine” means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
(a) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(b) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
(c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

Penal Code 32310
(a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large-capacity magazine is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.

Penal Code 32311
(a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing January 1, 2014, any person in this state who knowingly manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large capacity magazine conversion kit is punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment. This section does not apply to a fully assembled large-capacity magazine, which is governed by Section 32310.

the versamax has the same thread as the 870 and 1100 so it can use the same extensions.

Default Remington Versa Max mag extension

Excellent feedbacks! Totally get it, Since I live in CA 10-round is my max capacity.

Any one who has a Versa Max, is the extension magazine swap easy or do I need special tools. I tried to look for training videos but no luck finding in YouTube.

Just like an 870 google... you will need to either pound out or drill out the dimples so the follower can move past them

I actually replaced the factory tube from my comp tactical with a regular tactical one and had a barrel cut to 19" and the lyman 3+ carbon fiber extension fits perfect.

Great, thank you.
Too bad there is no reference for it on CG flow chart.

CG flow charts are a guide for CA assault weapons laws and does not reference CA large capacity magazine laws.

Seriously? I was under the impression it is a "Shotgun Identification Flow Chart" which should include such a small thing as capacity. I guess i'm wrong again.
