I wish i was a fly on the wall to the conversation you had with your wife after you got home.

Likely hood nothing will ever happen, but i can see how upsetting that can be.

What! Why give half an answer? You very well know that along with the address we need pics! Pics of the garage, inside and out. Pics of the driveway. Pics of the front of the house and pics of the approach to the house! Daytime will do, no need to go overboard with nite pics.

ETA:

Candid pics of the wife and any daughters too.

I think I'm getting cameras ..... can't hurt and might help.

Bad news.

Sorry in advance about the impending loss of your valuable cache of guns and ammunition.

But seriously, relax. Believe it or not, most people don't care one wit about our crazy little hobby. They probably didn't give it a second thought.

Safes bolted to floor, good alarm (monitored) with door and motion sensors, plus dogs to add a layer or two of protection.

They were probably parolees trying to change their lives. They don't do residential burglaries or home invasions anymore. They have made the commitment to stay off drugs. One day sober. You should congratulate them when they come over at 3 am.

When I have had contractors or movers in my place, I made a point to shake their hand, learn their names, and look them in the eye so there was no mistake that I knew who they were and where they were from / what they were doing in my house.

Is the safe bolted down? If so it will take awhile for someone to take it. Most safe companies also offer insurance if things are stolen from the safe. Good luck.

Got insurance? Brother one of the keys to life is knowing when not to give a frak. Yes, you may get burglarized, or you may not. As long as you have insurance, the worst part of this situation is you losing sleep and peace of mind, because with what little time we have on this planet, worrying about things that are beyond our control is not the best way to spend it.

So, make sure your insurance is up to snuff, keep your access points locked, make sure your safe is secured, wherever in the house it is, and just let it be.

I..........might have a talk with the wife, though...

You should probably move. And hire the same movers to move your safe.

Not 'paranoid' but overly protective.

If it continues to worry you,,,

You could always ID the people that were there. Call them and thank them for helping and refer to them by their full name.
Then I would forget it.

This is the reason why I keep my garge locked from inside out. The people that may have noticed items are hopefully smart not to consider making an uninvited visit, But you always need to be heads up on who may hear about what they have seeing.

Concerned yes, paranoid no. Nobody else needs to know what you have in your garage. Have a conversation with your wife about personal and home security.

Why is your safe in the garage? Every time you open the door the whole neighborhood can see what is in there.

I hope its anchored. But this is why my wife does not have the codes to mine. They can tie her to a table and "waterboard" her all day long and they're not getting into mine.
Sorry, honey.

That would depend on where the safe is in the garage. Not everything in a garage is visible from the street.

Fill up some of your surplus sand bags and construct a fighting position inside your garage. Mount your M1919 and be sure to have lots of extra ammo available. Put on your piss pot helmet, blouse your boots, break out the old Sgt. Rock comics and wait for the bastards to come for your stuff. With any luck they'll try a "human wave" approach. Be sure to be chewing on a lit cigar as you blast away and scream "dirty krauts!" a lot.

People that are in and out of houses all the time get desensitized and aren't looking around like you think. In fact they try not to look around. They don't care.

Time to make sure the safe is harder to get to and out.......Probably a good idea also to relocated ur ammo cans to somewhere else now....preferrably not at ur house. There's a very good chance that ur place is targeted now. Scumbags these days love getting mover's jobs, cuz they can scout out potential houses for goodies. If ur not preparing and actually believe some of these guys here that nothings gonna happen, u must be almost as stoopid as the morons that believes the gooberment especially kommifornia will never come for ur guns. Make sure the wife gets an EARFULL of sh**.....Most women is Stoopid beyond anything. They don't understand that "my husbands safe and ammo cans are out in the open in the garage", and that "I think its okay, nobody will notice it"........................But ooooooohhhhh, wait a minute....If it was her sh** and had value to it, she'll be very cautious..........I know, we know, most wives/gf's are friggin stooooopid..

Even if that's the case, this doesn't cover the garage.

You want to put your safe in an area that takes time to get to, where it can be bolted to concrete, which makes it hard to remove the safe, in an area that makes getting to the top and sides difficult, and will set off an alarm (to a monitored service that will dispatch the police) if accessed. If you do all of this your chances of having the contents stolen reduces to close to zero.

Nothing to worry about, movers NEVER steal anything.

Chain the wife to the table out in the garage for a week. Leave a phone with her so she can call the cops when the crooks come. Maybe that'll teach her to think before she does something like that again.

As for the whole "how to post a picture", make an account at one of these sites and upload them there:

http://beta.photobucket.com/
http://imageshack.us/

and after you upload the photo there'll be links on the page. Copy/paste the "direct link" address in a forum post.

Easiest way to do it. Image embedding can be done with the forum post tools but I never bother. I'm *that* lazy.

Stuff like this is inevitable.

Not everyone that comes into your garage is a thief, except here on Calguns.

Put a tarp over the safe.
