I couldn't agree more... I kept saying it'll be 3-4 months... looks more like 3-4 weeks. Its all good though I sold a gsg5 for $500 and mini 30 for $1300... both I only paid half as much for.

In a bad way usually.
Gad, I signed onto Ruger to have them send emails to my senators. Only 2 were Republican, luckily I know both to be pro-2A. But what a bunch of losers.. . |

Still worried about nation-wide ammo restrictions and 10 round mag limits. I was pretty sure an AWB would never pass, but these smaller things have complete chance to do so.

Bill would never make it through congress. Not that we shouldn't still fight tooth and nail, but these guys can't even pass bills giving jobs to Veterans.... how do you think they'd pass a bill that is horrendously unpopular?

I found it interesting that, in this morning's presidential press conference, what the president said was," people don't need to be worried about the federal government taking ALL their guns away". He also said that he was looking at what would be in his power to do about the gun problem without congressional legislation, what could be done thru executive order. Guess we'll see what happens, but watching the press conference certainly didn't give me any warm fuzzy feelings.:-)

Considering 'that guy' has little regard for the Constitution, I would not rule out an unconstitutional EO of some kind. I just hope the backlash would be more than 'that guy' and the D party can bare.

With the current state of the economy and the size of the industry compounded with the risk of increasing unemployment - this is not likely to happen this time around. I'm sure the firearms industry has made it a point to call this out to VP Biden in his conferences. Look at how many small manufacturers make up this industry - a ban would put most out of business.
The debt crisis and the "fiscal cliff" are much larger issues on the President's table. Still, I'm lucky to have stored up a ton of stuff from years ago so I'm in no hurry. |

With a Republican majority in the house and even Harry Reid in the Senate saying that they're not sure if there is enough support for an AWB ..... it looks like we may not be seeing one.
Right now. Obama is no amateur when it comes to politics. With lack of support in the House, rumblings in the Seanate and the people voting with their pocketbooks (panic buying and hoarding), the political climate just might not be right for an AWB. The Dems want to re-take the House and hopefully add to their majority in the Seanate in 2014 so they are very concious of the political climate. What, IMHO we are going to see via Executive Order is, universal background checks nationwide for every purchase and transfer of any gun. Maybe, excepting antiques and black powder only. Restictions on so called "high capacity magazines" and, some sort of restiction on ammunition, perhaps in the form of a limitation on amounts purchased, banning of interstate sales via the internet or mail order to private individuals or some sort of added tax to increase the price to exhorbitant levels making large quanity purchases impractical for the average person. Just my $0.02 ETA - watch the "fiscal cliff" issue. If the Dems can paint the Republicans in the worst way - they stand a better chance of accomplishing their congressional goals in '14. One more mass murder like Conneticut or colorado and THEN you have your ban. Make no mistake, the Administration is willing to wait. Last edited by Auctioneer; 01-14-2013 at 11:34 AM.. |

I'm new to the calguns community, but I'm so glad I joined. I ended up closing my facebook account. All my friends are lefts... all my coworkers are hippie gun fearing lefts, and where I live at, I'm surrounded by Obama voters living off the government. WTF is going on?!?! So glad to have a brief escape with all the like minded individuals here. Thank you for letting me know that not every one in our country is a pu**y! Why can't they understand that this Obama administration is the exact reason why we need the 2nd amendment. Btw the news reports are that there was no AR used at the Newton shooting... it's too bad the media has free reign to spread any rumors and false information it wants, to the sheep that watch it. These sheep absorb this and start panicking and jumping off cliffs with out even taking one moment to logically deduct if the facts presented them are true or even make sense.

As some have said, don't count your chickens yet. My predictions for this round:
1) National DROS. 2) Mag capacity restrictions. 3) New import laws, whether a restriction or a hefty tax. As previously stated, they may try to restrict by feature depending on the 2014 mid-terms and how many seats they can take. |

"California has a veto-proof Dem majority known for passing extremist laws".
"Not sure how hard I'd start laughing just yet". "Don't count your chickens before they hatch". "Now is not the time to be relieved". It's the calm before the storm, don't trust what our president said. We can not let up, keep the pressure on!!! |

Welcome aboard PM123. You will find a bunch of intelligent, law abiding, good folks on this web site.
I myself don't know how Obama ever got elected, nobody I know voted for him. I am not convinced the AWB is over and especially here in CA.

OP is a child that knows not what he speaks of. Look at your neighbors, co-workers, the media, academia and Hollywood. Forces are building against us not for us. Many gun owners are turning against us. I was listening to a conservative radio show today and even some gun owners were supporting "some gun control".
This is not my fahters U.S.A. |

A Democratic House majority and Senate supermajority did. We have neither of those right now.

He's trying to "talk" prices down. Or, he's simply calling out Calgunners as "sheep."

Now sure what the OP was reading or watching, but to me it looked like Obama said, "..stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines are all ideas he thinks make sense." http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2...apons-ban?lite He said, "...vigorously pursue a meaningful assault weapons ban" |

I'm not too worried about what the Obama administration is going to do. I'm worried about what California is proposing ahead of the government's ideas. Senator Yee submitted legislation today (1/14) which could add more assault weapon restrictions (SB 47). Namely removable magazines.

I think such limits would only occur at the buyer level.

Yee's AWB bill is out. It will open up a new registration period for our BButton rifles
http://sd08.senate.ca.gov/sites/sd08...20Language.pdf "(c) Any person who, between January 1, 2001 and January 1, 2014, lawfully possessed an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine, as defined in section 30515 and including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with the use of a tool, shall register the firearm by July 1, 2014, with the department pursuant to those procedures that the department may establish." |

Don't forget about the fight we have ahead of us here in California. Some may be wishing they spent a bit more for a few more lowers come January 2, 2014.
If a ban doesn't pass it it can't be ignored that it may be because of all the new owners who paid a bit more than they could have before the frenzy. Many of these people will join the fight opposing bad laws. More owners equals more opposition. Kudos to them for turning complacency into action. And in the end who gives a rats *** who paid how much for what? |
