No go at the mouse house. Metal detectors at the security checkpoints.

Metal detectors at Universal as well. No ccw, even for off duty or retired LEOs.

Disney wouldn’t even let me take in small Binoculars, I had to walk all the way back to the car, I wasn’t tossing them. They had no answer as to why. I had a couple zip ties in the backpack and couldn’t take those either.

LA sheriffs have a substation inside Citi walk for off duty and retired LEO's to secure weapons. Don't know if non leo ccw can use tho.

Disney metal detectors don't work imho. I have walked right through with a benchmade N680 and they didn't even go off. That knife is a huge chunk of metal.

Even off-duty LE cannot carry at any House of Mouse - CA or FL. And FL got rid of their lockers last year so you leave it at home or risk it in your car.

You would be surprised at how quickly security can get to any place in the park. Disney does NOT want to wind up on the front pages due to a mass killing in the parks.

I feel your pain. Prior to the metal detectors, their crew was pretty good at spotting pocket clips. The girl I was with at the time was pretty pissed at me. She wanted to know how to explain the situation to her 12 and 14 year old daughters who we were with and why I carry a knife.

I said...

1) Tell them it's not illegal, just a park rule

2) Tell them I use it to cut things like boxes or a seatbelt if a Disney Land ride happens to crash

3) Tell them they should carry one too along with pepper spray when they're old enough. She didn't really appreciate that one.

Women.

I was at Disneyland last week and asked their security detail about non-LEO CCW holders being able to lock their guns in the same lockers LEO are allowed to. They told me only off duty LEO are allowed to use those lockers now. Also, the metal detectors are not used for everybody when you get there first thing in the morning and zillions of people are coming in. Their security personnel get overwhelmed and let misc people go around the metal detectors on occaision. They did this to me 1 out of 3 times. I wasn't carrying anyway, so it didn't really matter.

I happened to be at DL/CA the week the detectors popped up without notice, we were staying at the Grand Californian so we had early entry nearly every day. Had a bit of fun with them as one of the goals of our week was to hit every coin pressing machine. So every day between the 4 of us we had at least 6 rolls of quarters, more rolls of dimes, nickles, pennies for them to go through.
