Default M4 carbine buttstock is too short

I bought a Colt 6920 and it had the Magpul upgrades, but the stock is so small, that even when it's extended all the way it doesn't feel comfortable. I think my son's Daisy BB gun feels better. I don't mind spending the extra money to get something longer, but when searching around online, it's hard to tell what the length really is. For instance, Magpul's website shows a length, and then a length of pull. I don't know what the difference is, but the max length stated is 6.9 inches, and the extended length of pull is 13.95 inches. I'd like to get a buttstock that is at least another couple of inches. Any recommendations?

I like the look of the M.A.G.S EFX-A1, but Brownell's website says it's 10.125 inches long, and has a 13.375 inch length of pull. Sounds shorter than the Magpul, but the pictures I see online make it look bigger. What gives?

length of pull is not the same as length, id recommend researching the difference between the two. The magpul acs and ubr are both longer, the ubr being the longest of the two.

Look at the Vltor A5 stock kit. It has a longer LOP for people with longer arms.

also look for a stock that allows you to add recoil pads for additional length.

This.

My standard STR stock from Magpul has a longer LOP than a standard carbine stock, FWIW. It makes all the difference

Or you can get an A2 stock...

13.95" LOP sounds just about right for a standard collapsible, when fully extended, you can add another inch or so using the ACS or EMOD stocks. If its still too short for you, then get a buttpad extender.

People pointed out to me the reason for this being that most people who actually are issued the adjustable stocks are wearing body armor, so the stocks can be adjusted short to compensate for it.

I did take a look at the Magpul UBR, but I'd like to go for a cheaper option to achieve the same length if possible. Even the plain A2 stock I guess. I just wish I could see a picture of how long all the stocks are side by side.
Probably because if you pull both stocks off of the buffer tube, that's how they're measuring the length. That would also be why LOP is given as a separate measurement.

Maybe a rifle length ACE ARFX stock would fit you a bit better. Still gives you the lightweight feel with a longer stock, and a nice soft pulse of the rifle buffer and tube. Here is my carbine with an ACE stock on it.

Not including the butt pad/extender (which is about an inch lonh), this MOE fully extended measured 10+" same length as an A2 stock.

Are you 8feet tall?

If not I would wager adjusting your stance would solve this issue real fast.

Try the:

-Emod
-Magpul ACS(if its not big enogh try the .75 extension pad)
-Vltor A5 stock kit

If all fails, try the M16 A1 stock.

Be aware of the price also the standard Tapco stock is $60 or so and the ones everyone are talking about are a few hundred. The AR is not like a bolt action from my point of view as far length is concerned. You will feel like it's short on most standard stocks if you're decent size imho.

They are meant to be held with your body more squared up to the target.

No lie. My 6'10" buddy had two Colt CAR-15's which had shorter stocks than the standard collapsible these days, and never had a problem shooting them.

It takes some getting used to. Sadly I shoot everything that way now, so long stocks feel odd to me.
