I'm half Mexican, Tejano actually. Meaning ancestors were in Texas since before pilgrims were at Plymouth rock. Part Indian but not Aztec but rather Apache.

I have plenty of Mexican friends but can't relate to mindset of most Mexicans. Most are actually pretty socially conservative, but their thinking is very simple and lean democrat. Mostly they are politically apathetic, but like to follow the crowd. Try to explain certain things to them their eyes gloss over, not stupid just brainwashed to not think beyond a certain world view.
Especially can't relate to ghetto attitudes, have a few of those in our extended family.

I'm a cocoanut.

Recently had DNA testing done by two different labs...,

Dad's heritage is Pipil (Panchimalco, El Salvador) and Otomi (Ixmiquilpan Valley, Mexico)

Mom's heritage is Southern Europe (Basque, Spain) and Native American (Apache)

There is debate among the family of whether mom's Apache blood-line is Chiricahua or Mescaleros.

But fact is... either way, I don't care... I'm good with just the Apache blood-line... it's kind'a cool knowing I may be a descendant of Geronimo The dude was a mega power-house strong willed summa-beesh...!

I've been calling myself Mexican all my life, and now... things have changed a little... I am now and always will be a cocoanut.

My father passed in 1989...,
Dad forbade us to say Hispanic, he hated the word Latino, he said okay to calling ourselves Spanish since grandpa on mom's side was a Spaniard... BUT... OMG... DO NOT say Chicano around my dad... them was fighting words, he hated that word...!

Dad was WWII VET and was very-very proud... raised us to speak English and English only. And you know why...!

NOTE: My grandparents on both sides were born in the late 1800's... only my grandmother on my mom's side was born in 20'th Century... 1905. So... think about it... Geronimo was born in June of 1829 and died on Feb 17, 1909

My grandmothers mother (my Great grandmother) was born in 1880... her name was Powla and according to records... she was full blooded Apache. The exact tribe she was from, as I said, is of debate... it's a long story.

It's not far fetch my friends... more wishful on my part... but... it's cool any way you look at it

I've been calling myself Native American lately because... well, it's kind'a cool. But... I'm also very loyal to my dad... he was a GREAT man. I am Mexican.

The Obama administration quietly has been forcing new gun buyers to declare their race and ethnicity, a policy change that critics say provides little law enforcement value while creating the risk of privacy intrusions and racial profiling.

It's interesting that this change in the 4473 also started around the time the Obama administration was proclaiming that a large percentage of the firearms used in crimes in Mexico were coming from the United States side of the border. Hmmmm....that kinda backfired didn't it? Anyone still remember Fast and Furious? Holder should be in jail by now. Just a little part of the big picture that this administration was trying to put together to produce even tougher gun control laws.

Have you ever heard Romanian? You can make out quite a few Spanish sounding words. Because of Romans most languages in Europe have Latin influence. But every region changed the pronunciation of words and added local words. Even modern Latin you see in church sometimes is not the original pronunciation used by Romans.

But Latino refers to things like Latin America, because its not just Spanish, but Portuguese in Brazil.

Hispanic would be talking about things related to Spain, (Latin America minus Brazil for example.)

Half Mexican / Half Black

Mom is from San Luis Potosi, dad is from South side of Chicago.

People think I look Puerto Rican.

I tell them no way no how 100% Blaxican, born in the USA baby.

Been collecting guns since 2005. Here is a list of guns I currently own.

Collection
M1 Garand
M1 Carbine
1903 Springfield
Colt 1911 45ACP
Krag-Jorgensen
Winchester 94
Mosin Nagant M91/30
Mosin Nagant M1891
TTC Tokarev
1895 Mauser

And because of my wife who is a proud Mexican born in Guerrero, I recently acquired this before SSE ends.

Colt 1911 38 Super

(not my image)

I am an American by way of Mexican parents. I will never forget my heritage and will always speak Spanish when spoken to in Spanish. With that being said " A mi me Gustan Los rifles y Tambien Las pistolas" or should I say fusgas or cuetes?

First generation Chicano. Both parents are from Mexico. First pistol purchase was a USP .40 (First deployment gift to myself ), then I started building my collection (as well as a couple rifles). Looking to get into hog hunting soon.

Half bean, half pasta here! Dad is 2nd gen. Mexican (there's word of his mom being Native American but she passed before I was born), mom is 2nd gen. Italian. I look 100% like my dad. One of my daughters came out looking like my mom with the reddish curly hair and green eyes. She's got all the luck! I don't speak Spanish but I can eat Mexican food with the best of them!

Come from a long line of brave military family members. The biggest hero of them all being my dad. Korean War vet. I was ready to sign on the dotted line when I graduated high school but my dad begged me not to because I was his only boy, the youngest and Desert Storm was just kicking off. I listened to him and went to college instead. Turned out fine. Still wish I would of carried the torch but that's the way it goes. My niece is now a Marine recruiter so it goes on.

I love my diverse family history but make no mistake, she flies proud in front of my house year around.
