Sorry if this is a dupe topic; I did some quick searching and only found some older threads with no good answers.

Currently I have to go to BLM land if I want to shoot from a holster in Socal. Is that still the case? It would be nice to have someplace closer and in a more controlled environment where I can do some basic drills.

Thanks!

This is actually something I am wondering about as well. I heard that Little Creek Firing Line might, but then again the person who told me that took some kind of ccw course there with an insturctor.

It's not really safe anyway unless there's nobody around you. Keep going to the boonies.

It's certainly true that any time you introduce "the general public," things get a little wonky.

I spent the past three years living full-time in Arizona. Shooting from a holster is pretty commonplace at indoor ranges there. Generally you just have to take a brief class or be a full, dues-paying member at the range. I don't personally know of any accidents taking place but it'd be interesting to research.

Thank you! That place is one of the closest shooting facilities to me, too! I'd heard the name but never gave them much thought before.

You can shoot from a holster if you get a private range at Burro.

$250 annual fee just to be eligible and then it's a $25 per person/$100 minimum fee for each session?

Jesus Christ.

I'm coming in from Arizona; membership at the very large, very nice outdoor range is a flat $100 per year, or you can go to an indoor range for the typical $15/hr and shoot drills from your holster all day long.

Welcome back to California...

You don't have to be a member, I shot at a private range last month that I had reserved, just the $25/person, $100 min.

Ah, that does make it a little more viable. Their website reads, "Private ranges are available to all members on a first-come, first-served basis" so you can see why it sounds very much like the private ranges are only available to members.

Sharpshooter in Torrance allows it, but only after taking a class, not sure how much that costs.

If you have a CCW, you have a few options if you want to draw and doubletap:

On Target in Laguna Niguel reserves Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 10:00 AM for CCW/LEO.

FT3 Tactical has a monthly CCW refresher. This month it's on the 26th.

I don't believe it has to be CA CCW.

IDPA at prado REQUIRES shooting from concealed carry.

Just saying.

F.A.S.T OC does a handgun challenge twice a month on Thursday nights at Evan's Gunsmithing that allows you to shoot from the holster.

On target allows it. You have to qualify first but they have a lane and special classes for it.
