I can't seem to get any details about the kit....
Does it have,
A bcg?
What is the barrel steel?
Do you want a carbine?
will you want iron sights?

Go check out psa. They will most likely have some killer deals really soon.

Look at this...

You would need a mag lock device like ARMaglock as it the kit has "features".

"Features" are collapsable/telescoping stock, pistol grip and flash hider.

Also need to apply for serial number from the PRK to engrave in your lower.

I would agree with the above and go with a PSA upper. Probably some killer deals on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Do you have a Ruger stripped lower ?
Or a Ruger 80% lower ?

yeah I know I will have to put a "fixed mag" device on

lower was purchased at Turners. (this is for a friend so IDK if 80% or stripped. It is just a shell, no internals at all)

Will check out PSA

You have a "stripped lower" but it's 100%, meaning all the machining was completed at the time of purchase and it was considered a firearm.

An 80% requires a decent amount of aluminum to still be machined out. It actually has no "internal" space at all in the trigger area because that's the material that must be removed.

As for a rifle kit, +1 on getting something from PSA.

edit:
Or get a better upper from BCM on sale:
https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1490751

and then get a "lower build kit" from PSA

Stag Arms usually has some pretty decent deals around the holidays, quality stuff. Their lower parts kit with the 2-stage trigger is tits.

Yup. Wait for the black friday sales at PSA, Primary Arms, LaRue, etc. Go featureless just fix the stock, replace the grip and flashhider. Maglocks are retarded. Wait till featureless is banned to go maglock. But they will most likely be banned together. So dont waste any time fooling around with silly maglocks and just go featureless.

Does it really matter if OP is asking for himself or his "friend"? No.

After his further clarification, he's obviously talking about a Ruger 100% stripped lower, not an 80% lower.

OP, legally speaking, any kit is fine as long as you also buy and install a magazine lock (or you make it "featureless", which entails buying a whole bunch of other parts), and the barrel is at least 16".

As far as value is concerned, I second (3rd? 4th?) the advice to check out PSA.

Another vote for PSA. Best bang for the buck. I have one of the "rumoured to be FN" PSA "blemish" rifles. Under $600 total. It has had thousands of rounds with no FTFs. I never really tested it for long range accuracy, but it hits everything I aim at, and seems to be everything one could expect from an AR. Never took it past 300 yards on steel, but it was up to that task.

No. OP posted a thread to a complete upper in his post. I can't see it now because I'm at work but as I recall it said it was a milspec barrel with 1/9 twist.

It's no good, then. Everyone should send any non-milspec 1/9 twist barrels to me for proper disposal.

The ad says:
Quote:
Forged Mil Spec upper with a 16” 1/9 twist 4150 CMV Barrel
which I infer to mean the upper receiver only is mil spec.

I am curious about the
Quote:
Mil Spec Lower Parts Kit
that could be real fun if it is indeed spec'd out the same as an M16. Sadly I'm sure it's just marketing going overboard with their terms.
