Default Buying a 28ga

I wanted one for a long time, so now I'm buying one.

I found a Beretta "Baby Frame" 28ga Sporting O/U. The price is right and it looks to be in good shape. Now I need to line up the FFL and sent the money.

Here's what I'm buying...

I really like 28ga as well. This will be a big change from the tubed 12ga I'm using now.

Good looking Beretta!
Recently I picked up Joel Etchen Signature series 687 shotgun with 20ga and 28ga gauge barrels. Shot them both and I see why you like the 28ga. I had the shotgun shipped to an FFL in Simi Valley. Sales Tax is 7.25%.

If you don't mind me asking, which one? And will they accept from a non FFL holder?

I'm assuming it's Fort Courage. I know they use to accept from non FFLs but, I would suggest calling to confirm that and, if they do, finding out what paperwork MUST be included from the seller.

That was my assumption as well, and was confirmed in a PM. I've tried calling a few times, but the calls went unanswered. I sent them an email asking your very question, not responded to yet...

Well, it looks like this deal fell through...FFL issues, oh well.
So instead I ordered a new 28ga Browning 725 Sporting. When it shows up at the store I can start the DROS process.

All's well that ends well...

Sounds like the skeet range and/or upland game hunt is next on your list.
I love the Beretta in the 28ga.

Enjoy.

Best regards,
870classic.

Care to share your load data?
Since the gun is on order, I'm now researching components for reloading. Hopefully I will have everything in house when the gun arrives. I still have a flat of Win AAHS that I bought for the tubed gun.

Great round and fun to shoot. I hope the Browning serves you well. As much as I would like a true 28 gauge shotgun, I am content with an ultralight tube for my single.

Yes, it is a fun round for sure. But I found my ultralight tubed GTI was to muzzle heavy. Targets I crushed without tubes got away with the tubes in, much to slow moving for my liking.
So, right now I have the shotgun and a new reloading press on the way. It's going to be fun around here

My son's first two pheasants were taken with a 28ga. OU, a Rizzini Auror, it was perfect for him at the time, nine years ago, and now I enjoy it for quail and grouse.

Nice looking kid, gun and bird!!!
I really like the 28ga, so I'm jumping in with both feet. The gun won't be at the LGS for 2 ~ 3 weeks, then it has to sit out the 10 day jail term.
I have hulls, shot and primers, ordered a new reloading press and wads, now I need to get the proper powder so I'm ready to roll when the gun arrives.

Fiocchi hulls are plentiful, I'm using 14.7 grns of universal with cheddite primers, it calls for a gu-2838 wad which I couldn't find, so am using a precision mini wad, which crimps really good.

Thanks! He's become quite the sportsman, both hunting and fishing, and was always a natural wing shot.

Here's one more from that day, one of the best live action photos I've ever taken.

He downed the pheasant on the right but missed the one on the left.

Good times, good times.
