Jamesweed, what's up with the extra long muzzle on the first AK? Planning for a folding stock?

On the top AK, to be exact it is a 5.5" long flash hider that brings the rifle to the legal 30" OAL so yes i can in turn i can make it an under folder or side folder if i choose to ... That one is a 1978 with original chrome lined barrel and all matching #s except the FCG and Safety selector , US made parts include - Flash Hider, Receiver, Pistol Grip, FCG, Magazine Body, Follower, Floor Plate.

The bottom one is a 1986 with US made chrome lined barrel and all matching #s except the FCG, US made parts include - Muzzle Brake, Barrel, Receiver, FCG, Pistol Grip, Magazine Body, Follower, Floor Plate.... Will post better pictures once i can find a real camera and not one on a phone.

So today I decided to order the Hogue 74004 upper and lower handguard set from Midway USA. I'll post pics after I take off the Tapco furniture and put on the new Hogue stuff. I went with the Hogue 74004 because I like the rounded look as opposed to the Tapco square look and the price was right; $46 after shipping. It comes with two upper handguards; one with a rail and one without. I'll be mounting the one without the rail. I also love the Hogue pistol grip I put on my WASR-10. The only complaint I found about this handguard set was that on some rifles, the lower handguard has some wobble. An easy fix with some tin foil, if I mine has that issue.

WASR 10/63. Ultimak rail system. Bushnell TRS and PWS FSC47 recently added. US Palm grip. Vltor receiver extension, soon to be replaced by the Rifle Dynamics so I can add a Magpul ASAP and HSP Thorntail for my Surefire Fury.

Numbers matching Egyptian Maadi kit built onto an American receiver. Its marking as a 1987 rifle. Arabic on everything. Going to engrave the arabic selector markings too.
Havent done the cosmetic stuff yet like the paint.
Its a work in progress.

Smile New Furniture

Here's the new furniture. Hogue upper and lower handguard and MAGPUL vertical grip. A BIG improvement over the TAPCO stuff. I did have to file down the upper handguard a bit to get the gas block lever to lock into place.

Wow. The upload compression through Cal-Guns takes a lot of color and distorts image a bit.
Im sure there is a thread talking about the best way to post big and clear pics?

Here's mine, crappy pics, will have to take some better ones.

Century Arms GP-1975, Timbersmith laminated furniture.

Planning on installing an AKARS rail and primary arms micro-dot optic in the near future. Considering changing the furniture out for a collapsible stock and a railed handguard.

It's an oil bottle. They would usually be issued with the rifle.

I know it's hard to not fondle it. Some people will keep all the wood off to keep it from soaking up the oil till it's done curing. Oil soaked towels wrapped around it from what I heard work best. It keeps the finish more even and less chance to be splotchy.

That is a perfect AK 47. I would go without the front grip because I like that grippy hogue fore end.
Everyone's different but I use my mag for a front grip to pull it in tight.
I want one just like that. VERY COOL

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's a Century WASR-10 that I bought in 2004, right after the AWB sunset. I pad around $300 for it. The finish is pretty rough and the front sight block is canted. But the guys at Century compensated by tapping the sight post to the right. They even marked the front sight post and sight block with a line in case the front sight post were to get knocked out of place. It even came with targets they zeroed it on. My first time shooting it I was bouncing a coffee can up a hill at about 80-100 yards out with iron sights. Due to health reasons I still haven't zeroed in my red/green dot. I'm anxious to see how well it holds up.
