Default Has anyone been approved lately in San Bernardino Co??

my interview was a little over a month ago and was wondering if anyone who had their interview around the same time 2-20-13 has been approved/set a range date? a friend picked up an application the same day i interviewed and he was already confirmed for his. seems like they sped up the app process but not the approved process.

also would like to ask if anyone who did their range class at Apple Valley GC could give some info and share their experience?

Thanks!

I'm curious as well. My interview in Berdoo was 5 weeks ago today. Not a word yet.

I keep telling myself, "if you wanted to be there by now, you should have left sooner".

Wife's interview was Jan 21. No letters/Employ letter, no calls, nothing.

Today I'd day 58 since my interview. My employer got a form to fill out on me a week and a half ago. Had a couple of detectives roaming the neighborhood yesterday questioning my neighbors.

I happy to see some activity on it. Hopefully wont be long now.

IDIOCY!! Sheer out and out idiocy, not to mention a huge waste of police man power. They could be catching actual criminals, but instead they're asking neighbors about an LTC applicant. Fer crissake, the guy passed a background check when he bought his gun! What possible value can interviewing neighbors be or getting a letter from his employer? Did they interview his auto mechanic? Did they get a letter from his proctologist? CRAP!!

I know that this wasn't intended for me but I too find this a waste of tax dollars so I will share the Process for my county.

Sutter County

1.) Make appointment with instructor
2.) Take Class - (2) 4 hour courses in the evening. Class one day and shoot the next.
2.) Apply for LTC at sheriffs office, pay and live-scan. You also have to bring in your firearms for them to check. Now at the time I applied I was just a walk in and met with and spoke to the sheriff that day. Now I think you have to make an appointment.
3.) wait...30 days for processing
4.) get a call and pick up your permit.

the first time I got my LTC it took about 3 weeks. they tell you 30 days just in case though. for the renewal. we have to take (1) class and re-qualify with the firearm and again it is just a walk in and they give you a new permit right then and there. no wait. hope that this sheds some light on a truly "easy" County.

Mtn folk,

Good to hear! I was worried, thinking they put a hold on everyone. 1/3 of my neighbors are new to the area and I haven't had a chance to meet them.. We'll see how that goes.. Keep me in the loop if you can. Can't wait to hear an approval story on another Dino resident!

Will do trapper!

It's kind of funny, my neighbors are now looking at me like I have heads in my freezer or something. I didn't alert them to the fact I was applying. Oh well, as long as they answered honestly.

I think we are the easy county. They still run you through the ringer. I think as long as there isn't a reason to deny, they will approve. They definately dont hand out ccw's like welfare. You need to be clean.

Strange, sometimes they are quick and sometimes they are slow. Did their hours get cut? Are they cutting more people off the department?

I'm not sure if they cut hours or not.
I'm guessing they might wait until your livescan results are returned before they start doing any leg work. I don't know for sure. After your live scan, they do tell you it is a 90 day window before you will hear anything.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I have an interview scheduled for May, but my wife and I now plan to move out of SB county in July 2014. I'm trying to weight the cost and time invested with the benefit.

1) How long after your interview is the process until you have the permit in hand and you're able to carry?

2) What other costs are required to obtain your permit beyond the 2 money orders? ($108, $29)

3) Would you continue to apply knowing you're moving in a year?

Where are you moving to?

I think after your 2 money orders, it's about 100 bucks for the class.

Even if you get your SB county CCW, you will have to notify the business office and surrender it when you move.

By statute, they cannot revoke the license for moving. However, the license automatically expires in 90 days (or is it 30?) after moving out of the jurisdiction of the issuing authority.

Notification to the issuing agency of moving is required within 10 days.

Must you notify them if you move within the county? Is it still valid?

All moves must be notified.

Auto-expiration is tied to the issuing jurisdiction.

So, if you have an LTC from a Police Department and you move to another city, to an unincorporated area of the same county, to another county, then your license expires automatically after a set period of time (30 or 90 days...I'm pretty sure its 90.)

If you have an LTC from the County Sheriff and you move to a different county, the license automatically expires.

If you have an LTC from the County Sheriff and you move to any location within the same county the license remains valid for the remaining duration of the license.

Sleighter, I started my process in mid Dec. and hope to carry in June. I don't know if having a sbdo ccw will help in ricketside or not. I'm guessing no.

And besides the money order and class can anyone confirm if there is additional costs? Has anyone finished the class that can tell us how much it was?

I had heard it was about 500 to get a ccw, but I'm not seeing the numbers of how they got that high.

It shouldn't cost more than 250 total. I believe an extra 25 for apple valley GC range.

You guys don't need luck. SBSO approves nearly everyone. Our new sheriff is working hard to get the total time line down to no more than 90 days. First step was eliminating need for references. It was taking a lot of time to process those.

They are now having classes at Apple Valley gun club trying to clear up the backlog of applicants.

Oops!
My wife is picking up her app today. She was going to get it months ago but chose to wait and see how it went for me.

Sweet! Hopefully the process will be faster for her once they clear up the backlog. Good luck!

(Still waiting on my approval)

i guess i will have to transfer a gun to her. what she will carry once she gets a permit is registered to me. I guess this is OK but what I have been told by the sheriff is at least one of the guns listed on the permit must be registered to the permit holder, the other two can be in the spouses name.

Mtn folk,
My wife and I have the same three guns on our permits all three are registered to me. Permits are issued by San Bernardino County. We are up for renewal soon, maybe they have made a change? I will call them tomorrow and ask.
