Just quick note for those who have CCW training coming up. According to the instructor at the Gun Range on North Highlands (and I have no reason to believe this is FUD) Sac County will not add additional weapons to the permit once you get the initial one issued. You have to wait till you renew in 2 years.
Several guys actually bought guns today because the Gun Range will let you buy your gun, qualify with it at their range, and then pick it up after the waiting period is over. The moral of the story is - bring all the guns you want to be able to carry to your CCW training or be willing to wait 2 years to add to it. If they had a PX Storm in .40 they woulda had another sale....

Not FUD. According to posts in this thread, this has been policy for more than a year. Here are some recent ones:http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...postcount=2590

I was the Dude with the desert camp "Marines" ball cap - I think you were across the row from me!
I also think you were one of the very first ones off the range - how'd you manage that? Oh and - I've noticed this very long thread has a number of self appointed "you should have seen this here and here and here" Ninjas. I'm calling Bullsh*t. No one should have to earn an honorary JD to go through this process. And you can decide to do so if you want - but don't be a d*ck to someone who has other things to do while also going through this ever changing and not well justified process who just decided to share something to try and be helpful to someone else. I fall into the category of saying "hey - if I didn't pick up on this (and most of the people in the class were unaware as well) other people will miss it too". My issuance appointment is tomorrow. This is one thread I won't miss - and that's really too bad.

Regrettably, because of your misunderstanding, you've decided to remove yourself from the discussion and you will not be able to share your current experience in this process with others. I sincerely believe that will be your loss, and a loss for this thread. Last edited by Dvrjon; 09-07-2014 at 5:32 PM.. |

No. They print and laminate it there after you sign the paperwork. Double check ALL info including serial numbers and make sure the Deputy's signature is present on the physical permit before you leave. You can see how that can be an issue if you are stopped by LE and are carrying a weapon that does not match what is on your permit. |

Used to come Certified Mail. My first one in 2011 came that way. By the time I renewed in 2013, they'd started issuing on the spot when you go for your final appointment.

My Honorary JD from The School of Rock prepared me well for the task of finding info that has appeared here on CalGuns time after time. Generally takes about 20 seconds or less, and I never trained in Ninjutsu--they don't offer that course of study at TSOR.

Since someone above mentioned checking over your license closely before leaving I'm reminded of how my 2010 license had an error on it for two years before I realized it. I suggested at my renewal that they change the font they use since some characters appear identical to another. I believe they had a 1 typed as a I or something like that for one of my serial numbers. Just curious: have they happened to change the font?

I checked and re-checked mine before I left - had me paranoid that I'd miss a mistake...and then I found one!!! Glad I found it before he printed/laminated it.
Thought I would also share that the gentleman who checked me in told me they were processing up to 80 - 100 (on a good day). Maybe 50-70 as an average. One thing that stood out? He said they still get quite a few no-shows - even for issuance. I know "stuff" happens - but with everything you have to go through in the process, I can't see blowing off an appointment unless something really big came up. 1st app - 5/20 Issuance 9/8 (but I didn't take the first training I could get - added 5 weeks to the process) Best of luck to the rest of the folks in process. It sounds like the Sheriff is really trying to process apps - I was told they had almost 8 thousand applications in the system.
