Sure, why not?
As long as storing it doesn't bug you or take up valuable space.

Keeping spent brass for barter is only useful if your circle of contacts includes people who reload in those calibers. If you don't know any, it becomes a burden looking for reloaders and figuring out if they have anything useful to trade.
If you can sell today, better to have cash now, even if you don't need it. Now if you had ammunition, I'd suggest holding on to that.

Even 9mm brass, RIGHT NOW, is going for a premium as this is many people's first shortage-rodeo...
~$40/500 pcs. polished, for once fired looks to be the going rate, shipped. OR ~$43 for 1000pcs multi-fired?, shipped, here on Calguns. Last edited by the86d; 12-30-2020 at 4:33 AM.. |

Recyclers will buy it from you or see if you can trade range time discount for it at an indoor range. Those guys always have a monkey in back using a press.
I know a few guys that reload and always want brass. Those are the type of guys that trade a bottle of Jack or 2 for used brass. 5 empty brass for 1 loaded round of your choice or ??? Get creative and learn the whole barter thang before it becomes the new normal.

Since I reload 9mm @ $0.103 (PC lead) to $0130 (FMJ), the powder typically costs $0.0158/rd and primers @ $0.024/rd with my last purchase, it appears brass can go as high as ~$0.90/rd RIGHT NOW, in a panic, loaded...
if 9mm is going for up to ~$1/rd, retail... |
