Default Another new guy (from Hemet)

Hello, I'm new to calguns (but not new to the area).

Last night three LEOs in black uniforms w/ID and badges on the uniforms came to my house looking for my eldest son. They said my son purchased a .22 pistol many years ago, and they have come to confiscate it because of a misdemeanor he got 8 years ago. (Apparently there's a 10 year ban in effect).

These LEOs were not Riverside County officers, nor did they appear to be Hemet PD, and were in an unmarked vehicle (Ford pickup). It was dark when I spoke to them outside, and they didn't appear to be armed.

Can someone refer me to a good civil rights/2nd amendment attorney near Hemet California please? Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Thanks for any help I can get. This state is getting scary.

im no expert, though i believe this is highly illegal.

First of all (and someone correct me if im wrong) A misdemeanor will not prevent you from owning a firearm. Must be a felony offense.

Second, without ID or proof they are LEO i would have shut the door in their face. IMO.

Here is the contact info for Davis and Associates. Not in Hemet, but they are in Mission Veijo. If that's too far, perhaps they can point you in the right direction.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

CADOJ agents. You can thank the scumbags running our state for this. Your son was probably flagged in the APPS system as being a prohibited person, so they sent them out to confiscate any weapons in his possession. They come warrantless, and you can refuse their entry to your residence. I would definitely take SoCal Gunners's advice, and contact Davis and associates

Thanks to our new AG. she has this set as a priority what I have read is they are after ex-felons and people deemed to be mentally unstable. Google CADOJ agents and you find out more they are doing this all over the state.

A misdemeanor charge can prohibit firearm ownership/use for ten years if it is included in the sentencing (for whomever asked).

Hope this trash gets all sorted out, man. Sounds like a crappy situation. Sorry for the inconvenience to you and your family. :-\

I'm in Hemet as well. Considering that Hemet's problem really isn't some random kid with a .22 - that's very annoying to hear.

Good luck.
