Default Is Hodge Rd still open?

Hi everyone!

I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this question; Is Hodge Rd still open to shooting North of the 15?

I checked http://www.specialdisticts.org/modul...umentid=306*** (which I found on this site) and it looks like Hodge is still open to all shooting.

However, when I called one of the Barstow Fish and game offices the lady on the phone was adamant that the area of Hodge Rd North of the 15 was private land and that our rifles and Handguns would be confiscated if we shoot there with out written permission from the land owners. She advised that I go North of Int. 40 and Hwy 58 if I recall correctly.

Additionally I was told that the area was closed by the sheriff because of complaints.

Based on the map it looks like it is safe to shoot there. If anyone has any info, or other spots that are safe to use in that area please let me know via this thread or PM. I am not looking to ruin anyone's spot

Thank you!

*** I am new to the site and am having trouble getting the link to show up on my screen. I used the map from www.specialdistcricts.org ***

I have friends both BLM and CHP that patrol that very area. As long as you aren't creating problems they will not bother you. The land owner would have to ask them to remove you from the land. I shoot there every once in a while and when I do, if my friends are on duty, they will come out and shoot with us! Pm me if you need any more clarification.

I go there a couple times a month. But I can't see it staying open for long because we have idiots who leave trash or shoot too close to towers. At the moment it's open but don't ruin it.

This is true. Stopped by last week to just see the new sights on my glock. WOW, there is a lot more trash than a month ago!

There has been a recent surge in traffic at the boon-docks blm. I would assume it's the availability of ammo to blame... Anyways pickup your trash, use good judgement, and shoot safe

Thank you all very much!

Like I said, I am not going there to burn anyone's spot. Our group cleans up after we make a mess.

If anyone else has something to add it is much appreciated.

Once again, thank you all very much!

Default Hodge Rd

How far back is it necessary to go off the freeway?... assuming I'm complying with all other applicable laws for state/county. Unfortunately google maps lets you look only so close and the street view isn't available. If anyone needs info on Berdoo i'd be happy to oblige as that is where I am usually found in the mornings.

Thanks.
