Wow. Spend too much on a surefire side vent brake only to be bummed out about blast, then spend too much on a "blast shield" that negates the benefit of the side venting.

smh.

Your last statement is not quite accurate. Although the blast shield does reduce the effectiveness of the brake it does not eliminate its effect. With that said there is a practical use for the shield. As mentioned before it is a great tool to have when shooting at ranges, especially indoor ranges. When it is not needed the brake can do what it does best.

What does this do that the various other smaller/lighter linear comps don't do (Troy, Levang, Noveske, Etc)?

If they use an outer jacket, nothing. The warden does no more or no less than any other "jacket" its just the cool factor of the sure fire.

Hey, gives all the operators something to attach to their Brake. I used to laugh at the people in suppressor unfriendly states paying double what the pro comp costs To have the suppressor mount built in. Now I'm so bummed I got the pro comp.

I don't know I guess if I tried on I might change my tune.

130 dollar bad *** brake. Check.
200 dollar doohicky that makes it not work . Check.

I was told by surefire that the warden is in the price system but that there is still no eta on it.
$180 is msrp. Sucks that bravo is charging full retail.
The socoms are nice but I feel like I/we have had the prove rbial carrot dangled long enough, and at $180? They can keep it. Lots of other similar options on the market.
Keneti tech as mentioned here makes a nice brake at an attractive price as well.

Keep in mind that there are (or were, in my case) many of us that are in that unfriendly state that still own and use suppressors. Since, like you said, the brake does such a good job, it is/was the perfect combo for me.

I'm still not sure I completely understand the Warden, but that's probably because I just haven't seen it in action. But that is a lot of coin.

What I imagine the warden will do is obviously push the blast straight forward and maybe even possibly reduce flash.. Plus add the suppressor feeling for us less fortunate CA residents. But who really knows? With that being said, will this decrease effectiveness of the brakes sole purpose? I guess it's tbd. But at $180 I think I'll hold onto my wallet and just wait on the Warcomp.

The warcomp is essentially the same thing as the Socom adaptor. The warden is the jacket that mounts over either of the above mentioned brakes.
So, in a nutshell waiting on the warcomp will not get you a warden any sooner

Why wouldn't it be legal in CA? It's not a suppressor. It's just a blast shield that directs the sound and concussion forward rather than to the sides. Function-wise, it's not much different than the FERFRANS CRD (Concussion Reduction Device) and Griffin Armament QD Blast Shield that are both already sold to California residents.

Talked with a Lady at surefire. She told me she overheard some guys in the shop saying that surefire has scrapped the warden. She did say she does not know how set in stone this is but it is looking like we will never get one. That coupled with the missed released dates I am starting to think this is true.

Looks like Surefire should have kept their mouths shut until the engineering kinks were worked out.

It's fine to talk something up once you know the item is in manufacturing, but at this point, they just look stupid.

Ya'll should have waited.

The lady was clear that she did not hear this first hand. But she did hear what she heard...or something like that. Yeah, I'm bummed as well. The surefire Socom brake is pretty kick *** all by itself but the warden would have been a cool add on.

OK, called Surefire again on 6/4. Was told by one of the technicians that the Warden has a solid release date of 6/29. I was assured that it will infact be going out to dealers on that date. So, it looks like, once again that we might see the elusive warden.
With that said it looks like the retail price is going to be $180. I say we let them stock the shelves deep then we dont buy until the price comes down to the more realistic $140-$160 range.
What say you?

I agree. But at $180? Many other less expensive options. I really want one but I am not sure I am willing to pay $180.

Even better it is not threaded. It uses sure fires patented mounting system. When locked down there is no movement. Others on the market use more of a twist over lug design with flat springs to hold the jacket in place. I feel sure fires design is ahead of the pack in terms of mounting.

That's good news so long as they stick to that date. I was given a solid date of "by the end of June" by a man at surefire. So looks like that date is a no go as well.
