I like the 2.5-10 PST from a size and magnification range for the SPR, but I passed over it for a couple reasons… If vortex added a FFP option and a side parallax adjustment to that scope, or even JUST side parallax adjustment I think it would be one of the best / affordable options out there… You don’t see many 2-5-10x type options until you start shopping for the real expensive stuff, USO makes one of my favorite in that type of mag range.

The Vortex 4-16 FFP is still a pretty sweet option, and really isn’t too bad in the size / weight department either.

Here is the reticle subtensions for both scopes (MOA)

Thanks! I'm pretty impressed with the PRI Delta so far, although I haven't really had a chance to shoot with it yet. It's extremely stout, especially considering the light weight. Ergonomics feel very similar to the wide HK forends, but a bit more radiused on the corners. Comparing it to standard round forends, it seems like the Delta allows better leverage to stabilize the rifle against heavier optics.

The top rail on the Delta attached directly to the forend, rather than bolting onto a seperate picatinny rail like the standard Gen III forend. Not sure if this saves any weight or not, but I like the reduced number of threaded fasteners which could potentially come loose. Keeping with that theme, I used a simple sling stud up forward rather than a picatinny rail + adapter to mount the bipod. Saves a little weight, and doesn't protrude off the forend quite as far when stowed.

I'm going to add some of the PRI QD sling cups to the sides up front, along with a Noveske flush mount QD cup on the bottom near the base of the forend. The QD mount at the rear of the forend will allow me to configure the sling off the front of the rifle like the old Enfield No 4 Mk. T sniper rifles, which had a sling swivel just ahead of the magazine. Ends up being a really stable method of shooting from unsupported positions.

Yeah, that's the same reason I'm kind of hesitating to get one. I can live without the FFP, but I'd really like a side parallax adjustment. Supposedly not needed on scopes less than 10X, but I've noticed the effects of parallax personally on scopes @ 10X.

Sadly, even stepping up to something like the Nightforce 2.5-10x32 still doesn't get you a side parallax adjustment. The SWFA 3-9X42 FFP was another option I've been looking into, I just have a hard time getting over how large that scope is for a 3-9 power. I may end up going with a Bushnell 3-12X44 Elite Tactical with G2DMR. Hopefully by the time I've saved up the cash they might have an illuminated version available....

Thanks! The grip is from Sierra Precision, same grip used on the original MK 12 Mod 0 SPR rifles. The forend is a Precision Reflex Gen III Delta. The majority of it is made from carbon fiber, extremely light and doesn't heat up like an aluminum forend.

Thanks for the compliments! I always try to pick components for a build based first and foremost on functionality, but I won't deny that aesthetics plays heavily into parts selection as well

Here you go. There are four position markers on the magnification dial (4, 5.3, 8, and 16). I'm pretty sure they correlate to different hash mark values if you don't have a FFP. Anyway, here's a shot at each of those zoom levels:

Nice. Looks like 10 mils total holdover down to the bottom post of the reticle. Easily enough for holding over out to the max range of the 5.56 if there isn't time to dial in elevation for a shot. Thanks for posting the pics!

Well I was thinking of krypton to stick with my roots but, I also spray Duracoat so I might just throw down a nice base coat of some FDE and krylon it up the rest of the way. Then again I might just do a full Duracoat job on it so it will last a little longer and when it gets dinged up it won't be as bad.

I know a half retarded HT that works for me.

I haven't found a Mk12 Mod 0/1 specific thread on CG. I think we should start one. Another forum has a 145 page thread on them.

Do CGs not like the MK12s? Personally I think they should have stopped at the Mod 0, but some like the 1s. Mod 0 saved my life a few times so I like it better. Lmao

I'm thinking I might just use the duracoat on mine as a base coat as well, for something like the A TACS camo maybe.

Now that I think about it, I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone in my rate that isn't at least 1/4 retard. The simple joy of lighting things on fire and playing in poop.....

I tried looking up "special purpose rifle," but I can't find an answer... what is the definition for a "special purpose rifle?" Is this more than just what is in the OP?

It varies depending on who you ask. Aside from strict clones of the MK 12 Mod 0 and Mod 1, I think a rifle should at least meet all the important specs of the originals to qualify as an "SPR". The criteria should include:

-18" barrel with rifle length gas system
-Suppressor adaptable muzzle device
-Folding iron sights
-Magnified optics with rangefinding or BDC capability
-QD mounts for optics
-Night vision adaptable (railed forend)
-Bipod equipped

I completely agree with your criteria. I would like to build a mod 0 ,clone but th e $1000 for the NF glass or the Luepold is out of my budget. A true SPR is not cheap but with accuracy comes a price sometimes. Sure I could build a "SPR" for cheaper but I like the trueness of my build. Almost identical to the issued weapon as far as the upper goes. Final lower will be true to the original minus my magpul grip with integrated trigger guard. I also believe in field functionality and user mods to accommodate for user likes and dislikes.

Pm me for contact info. I need a long distance range to sight this puppy in when I am done.

Some nice rifles here!

I put together my mod0(ish) build this weekend. Now I need to save up for some glass. I'll use the irons for now. The addiction does not end

Upper receiver: LaRue w/LMT BCG
Rail: LaRue 12"
Lower: LaRue w/CMT LPK(Geisselle SSA trigger), LaRue extension
Grip: Sierra Precision
Bipod: Harris w/LaRue mount and podloc
Stock: LMT SOPMOD
Barrel: Shilen/Rainier Ultramatch SPR w/Surefire brake
Optic is a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 EMDR in a Weaver base and rings. I will eventually swap for a LaRue mount, but this thing hasn't come off zero in the 8 or 9 months that I've had it, so it's doing just fine for now.
