Default I am really bothered by this...

Hi all,
I have never posted in this forum before, but I made a post on another board
and the thread topic was "For all the cops on this site".
The post I made was not bashing LEO but supporting them. Then someone
with more knowledge than God gets on and makes a reply. That is why I
am troubled by this. A good friend of mine that I used to work with and
whose wedding I attended is an officer with the Anaheim PD. He's a great
guy. I just don't understand people sometimes.
Here's my post with the reply to my post below:

Post by me:

There are a lot of people that, as we know, do not trust or like cops for
reasons all their own. Maybe it's because they encountered that one
LEO that happened to be young and egotistical, or one that had just
finished up at a fatal traffic accident, or some other dark incident. Who
knows? I'm not LEO and never have been, but encounters that I have had
in the past with LEO have all been positive and I believe most of it was
because of my attitude towards the LEO. I look at it like this: I go to
work every day and LEO's go to work every day. We both do our jobs
and go home after the work day ends. They are people like we are and
have scruples and morals like we do. They have mortgages and bills like
we do and worry about the economy and the state of the country like
we do. I do not believe that a LEO would follow an unconstitutional
or unlawful order or any order that would cause harm or complete distress
to the non LEO public. If it is a SHTF scenario, they will be concerned about
their own families and children and would want to get home to them just
like we would want to.

I have respect for LEO's, they have a thankless job. So to all LEO's on
this board, I say thank you for your service you perform during your watch.
KUDOS to you all.

(Putting on flame suit)
No, I wasn't sucking up. I meant what I said.

Do I have to create a post listing the thousands of examples proving your belief wrong or can you just google "police abuse" or "gun confiscation"?
It's one thing to believe that not all police are bad or to even believe that most police are good. But to believe there is no such thing as a policeman who will follow an unconstitutional or otherwise unlawful order is ludicrous. Take the blinders off.

Good for you for seeing the positive in the work that LEO's do but don't expect everyone on a forum to see things the same way that you. Just like any profession, there are the good one's and the bad one's and he is simply pointing that out.

Stick around forums long enough to see the other opinion, study their point of view and you can have to some very good discussions sometimes. You may even learn something interesting.

Yes, I do understand that. I guess there are times when we shouldn't
say what we feel or really mean about certain subjects, and it's plain
to see that on certain forums, discussions about LEO's strike a nerve
with a few people. Oh, well...I tried...said what I felt, and got flamed
for it. I should have known better, I've been surfing the web and forums
for many years.

There are always bad seeds. From my limited experience the ones who tend to hate or dislike police officers are the ones who tend to break the law. If you do nothing wrong and are an upstanding citizen you have no rational reason to dislike police, but again, there are always bad seeds.

Calguns has many members that are anti-leo, anti government, some of them radically so. It also has many members that would sell their soul as long as they can keep smoking pot. This would be even more obvious, but the forum owner deletes many of these threads so that the forum doesn't look bad and present gun owners in a bad light. In a way, I can understand his reasoning, but people should be aware of the truth.

Haters will always post their bilge because they can be anonymous. Don't let them change the way you feel or what you post, because if you do you give them the power. Just act reasonably, and if you reply do so with a thoughtful and measured reply.

Haters cannot compete with the truth.
