Default Remington 572

I need a little help. I picked up a Remington 572 here on CG a few weeks ago, it looks great and is very accurate but it won’t shoot 10 shots without jamming. It doesn’t look like it’s been shot much and it was made in the mid 90’s. Thanks.

Jamming is a bit generic of a description. How does it jam exactly?

Failure to feed or extract or does a spent case get stuck in the action or bolt?

Once the type of jam is known perhaps there is a solution someone has tried.

Oh and what ammo were you trying? That makes a big difference.

You might want to try giving it a thorough cleaning.

This guy has a pretty good video of taking it apart and putting it back together.

You can do a quick visual check on the magazine tube to make sure it isn't bend or had a divot in it. I can get easily damaged.

Good luck.

I had owned a Model 572 and it never failed in any aspect. Your first task is to clean it, and when you take it apart, I would recommend comparing it to photos or diagrams to insure all of the parts are present and undamaged.

My 572 was purchased in 1964 and has never had a failure of any kind, perhaps something missing as noted.
