Default Sig Sauer 1911 Mainspring weight

Does anyone know what the weight of the mainspring on a Sig Sauer 1911 is? I've tried contacting Sig's customer service but cannot get through. Thanks.

Don’t know Sigs, but standard for 1911 is 23 pound.

I snagged this receipt from the 10-8 performance site:

"17lb recoil, standard extra power firing pin, and 19lb mainspring. Another excellent setup is a Wolff 18.5 lb recoil, standard extra power firing pin, and 23 lb mainspring."

I personally run the latter set up in my gun. I don't mind the extra weight that the mainspring puts on the trigger and I like the recoil impulse of the 18.5 pound recoil spring.

5" barrel? Recoil and main spring are major tuning choices. Final selection depends on what load you intend to shoot. Full house ball and 185 gr SWC target loads would be different.

Standard config for 5 inch 1911 (basically, shooting 230 gr FMJ) is 16# recoil spring and 23 # Main spring.

With 23 # mainspring, you can probably go 15# recoil spring with no issues if everything else is to spec.

Changing the mainspring is going to change the felt recoil impulse as well as how hard your hammer strikes the firing pin... It also has an effect on your trigger pull.

What are you trying to accomplish by using a lighter mainspring..?
