It’s funny to me. Those sights look so much like the “fancy” ones they are making now.

It's been awhile since I've had a G19. I figure it's one of those guns a person should have. So I was looking for a good used one and one showed up. So below is the first time out with it.

Target was 8 yards out above and 12 out below. The ammo for both was Blazer 124 gr. ball. I fired 27 rounds at 8 yards and 20 rounds at 12 yards. Aimed fire, two handed. I shot a bit fast now and then. I'll improve on that with more shooting.

For contrast: same day firing 230 gr. S&B ball.

8 yards on the left, 22 rounds, aimed fire. On the right, 12 yards and 15 rounds. 9 complete misses! I was tired and too impatient. Or that's the story.

Since I live on 80 acres out in the Boonies and near Six Rivers National Forest, I don't have to go to an indoor range, and shoot while standing still.

With a CZ-52 chambered in 7.62X25mm Tokarev with Mil-Surplus 83 grain FMJ for these pics, which I carry CCW at times with JHP.

I can move forward and backwards, sideways, and fire from different positions. Plus I can use unusual items for targets. That is an old fire fighting backpack water tank for a hand pump, and it was a leaker before I perforated it.

Fired at from no closer than 10 yards out 20 yards. I was aiming for an eight round (full magazine) circular pattern, double taps, 4 round diagonal patterns, and the outliers are from weak hand firing.

I also get leaker beer kegs for targets, and they show how some pistol rounds do not go thru the sidewalls unlike high power center fire rifle rounds such as .30-06 Springfield, and 7.62X54R.

This was 2 weeks ago, CCW qualifying here in Nevada. I was using my Springfield TRP at anywhere from 7-12 yards. I was actually kind of impressed. I do need to go back out and make some adjustments on the rear sight though, to correct the shooting left. Otherwise, I’m happy with it.

These are some photos of my favorite drill at my range with programmable targets. It's a five shots in five seconds drill from 7 yards - one shot at each target from top left to lower right - 7 and 8 passes respectively. The first photo is with my factory SP-01; and the second is with my M&P 9L Performance Center Ported with a non-ported Apex barrel and trigger job:

I think the red targets are 4" in diameter each. This was a good day for the M&P and better for the SP-01. My 9mm Springfield 1911 is just as accurate as the SP-01 and I'm waiting for my 226 to get out of jail next week to see how it performs. They are all very accurate 9mm handguns. Since I don't carry, I prefer the heavier guns, but the M&P is really fantastic for its weight.

It's a 1911 Browning + Winchester 22lr ammo.

If you mean you want to try it, any handgun, any caliber. You can find the printable target's link in the video description.

Picked up my CZ 97 on Saturday and went to the range. Put 100 rounds of S&B 230gr. FMJ through it. 50 through an IDPA target, then 5 in 5 ten inch bullseye at 10 yards, and again at 15 yards.

Very pleased with this excellent 45.

10 yards - 5 shots per target

15 yards - 5 shots per target

Thumping good shooter

My SP-01 definitely shoots better than I do. This is from today, I was pushing the targets further back. 5 shots at 20 yards.

I will play.....99 rounds into this target.

Box stock VP9 shooting 99 rounds of Winchester White box 115 gr 9mm @ 10 yrds into this particular target.

I was executing was my standard indoor range drill where no holster work is allowed.

Starting at modified low ready with 2+1 in the pistol and two mags in pouch on hip with 3 rounds each. Each "string" of 9 rounds as follows; Perform a failure drill (2x chest 1x head) to slide lock and perform a combat / emergency reload... three times as quickly as possible. The shots to the chest are slow controlled pairs @ +/- .55 sec split times.

15 yards at The Gun Range in SD. What a nice range with excellent customer service.

Middle targets (top & bottom) are with a new-to-me CZC Shadow Custom and these are my first shots with it. The side targets are with my Tanfoglio Witness Elite Stock III - which is/was my most accurate shooter in 9mm - and has a lot of work done to it.

I made the mistake of shooting the CZ first. It took a while to get used to the very short reset and close to non-existent pre-travel. I had a couple of doubles. I then went back to my Tanfo and man did the groups expand. The Tanfo is now at Patriot Defense for a SAO conversion and Bolo.

Default How you shot your handgun target pics!

Single action Cajunized SP-01 at 7 10 and 12 yards 2 days ago at Poway weapons and gear. Just took my time no drills. Wore my reading glasses for the first time shooting. It helped ha ha.

How about a video. Finally found a place that allows drawing from a holster. This is with my CZ SP-01 safety version.

This is new to me. Mostly just dry fire practice. Gonna take my new shot timer on Thursday when I practice again.

Nice! Practicing live fire drills are a lot of fun. Getting a shot timer was one of the best things I have done to help hone my skills.

Always prefer live fire when I’m able to do so. Curious how close you are to that steel plate, maybe it’s just he angle of the camera.

Not far at all. About 10 yards if memory serves. Was my first time shooting there and they had no markers. Will bring a tape measure and some marking paint next time.

Angle made it look much closer than it was. I was observing the ricochets in your video.

Where was this in SoCal?

It's up in Newhall. Range is called "A Place to Shoot". I just bought a membership. They have 6 public ranges and one member range. The member range allows action shooting.

New shooter here.

#1-3: 5 yards trying things out

#4: 20 rounds at 7 yards, kinda figured where to put the front sight to hit the target better

#5: 20 rounds at 10 yards. Went pretty slow there. Almost had them all with the circles but dang the targets seem very small at that distance!

If you can swing it, you should. Get the right foundation on grip, stance, trigger discipline but also basic safety.

Lots of great info on the forum and a lot of great members. Always welcome to PM me with questions and I will try my best to help.

Yup. I'm gonna do my first match at the end of the month. USPSA. Been working on active shooting at the outdoor range. Found a place that allows members access to a member only range where you can run and gun. So been working on basics to keep me from getting DQ'd at my first match. Let's hope its helped. LOL

Gopher Flats. It's on the last Sunday of the month. Never been there. Seems like a good bunch of guys based on the few I've interacted with online. They're very secretive of the place. Strange considering they're public matches but their club, their rules so no worries.
