Talking SACRAMENTO area reloaders roll call

As most the others major cities have one, I figured it's time to start the Sacramento area roll.

It would be nice if you listed where you are located, what you use, calibers you reload, stores, specials, group buys, etc

I received some much appreciated help from a member on here that got me up and running on my 650. I know there's lots of new people interested in reloading and it's great to find someone in your area to learn if it's for you or not. Or maybe you need to borrow or buy something off a member....

I reload 9 and 10 on a Dillon 650 (and soon to be 45 and 308 when I get back home). I'm in Folsom, CA (when I'm not in Miami).

Not yet, but I'm reading up on the process. I really want to load .223 and eventually .30-06 (for the Garand), .45 ACP and maybe .40 S&W. I was gifted an old RCBS Rock Chucker and will most likely step up to a more sophisticated system if all goes well. Feel free to keep me informed if you get a group going. Thanks!

In Elk Grove

load 45, 9mm, 357/38, and 380auto... I also do some rifle calibers but not as nearly as often as pistol calibers.

I have 2 presses both single stage one hornady and one RCBS

I want to get into shot shell reloading but that is a little down the line

I get my supplies between mail order, Sportsman's Warehouse and Discount shooters supply.

I know there are a lot of people who want to get into reloading but need someone to show them the ropes. If you are in the greater sacramento area I am willing to help you out.

Folsom

RCBS manual turret (for prep of brass) and Super Rock-Chucker (for the actual reloading)

Load Rifle 7.5 x 55 Swiss, 30.06 for bolt and Garand, 30 cal M1 Carbine, .223, .243, .308, 7mm mag and used to load 6.5 Swede, 300 Weatherby

Load Handgun .380 acp, 9mm, 38 cal, 357 mag, 40 cal, 44 special, 44 Mag, .45 acp

I load for immediate family and those I take to the range -- I'm cheap and reloads let everyone shoot more

I'm in north Sacramento County and have been reloading since 1981

.32acp
.380acp
9mm
.45acp
.38/.357mag
.44mag
.223/5.56x45
.308/7.62x51
.303 British
.45-70
.50 BMG

I'm a "single stage" reloader (all 4 of my presses) and I load primarily to make the highest quality possible. I don't turn necks, but I do ream primer crimps and uniform flash holes. I have NO experience with turret or progressive presses. I don't charge any set fees for my time although most folks will have some cold beers and a pizza or maybe even a handful of components for testing of my own.

In the past, I've put together bulk orders for several people in an effort to get my 48 LBS for a single hazmat fee. Buying this way works out well and people have always been happy to participate. Unfortunately (fortunately for me), I'm pretty much stocked on most powders but I do expect to place an order come October or so.

Rank beginner here.

Dillon 650 and Hornady L-n-L single stage.

Load 9mm, .38, .357, .40, .45, .223/556 and .30 carbine.

Someday maybe 8mm, .308 and .35 Rem.

Not more than a handful of any one of these... looking to ramp up once I have a bit more experience.

Extreme noobie here. I have an rcbs single stage and have just started to become interested in reloading to feed my m1 carbine. If anyone feels like coming to Cameron Park to help me set up my dies, I would be more than willing to hand over a few bucks for some instruction. I have bought everything for sportsman’s warehouse or online.

I'm in Carmichael, but I work in Roseville at Discount Shooters Supply. Anyone looking for some help, or a test drive of a machine(mostly Dillons) can feel free to come out and see us(1050 Melody Lane #140). I'm mostly there Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Ps, I believe we are the only local Dillon dealer, and other than sportsmans warehouse, possibly the only place carrying powder/primers/bullets

NotEnufGarage is another local reloader, lives around the corner from me.

I'm currently loading on Dillons and a Lee Turret. 9mm, .40, .45, .223, .308, .30-30, 7.62x54r, .300 Blackout, .38spc, .357 mag, .44 mag. That should be about it lol

All of you who have not already done so ... you need to visit Discount Shooters. Visit them early and often. A great place.

I would be more than happy to come over and help you out, but I'm in Miami until Christmas time. If you don't have it straighten out by then I'll come over and help out. But, I'm sure a member on here can help you out before then. You might wanna send a PM to ahren111.... He is in Shingle Springs and is probably the closest to you.....

Also M27 said he's willing to help members out, but is in Elk Grove. I'm sure some gas money and cold beer could persuade him to make the drive.

Luke from Loomis
Right now I reload and shoot 9,40,357/38 & started on 45acp . Want to try 223 so when I get something down the road I'm prepared. Transfers and components I get from discount shooter. Great people there.
Press is a lnl-ap an love it . Cast my own boolits and . Mainly shoot at spenceville and if I have to the Lincoln range. Still have yet to find the illusive foresthill range.

Natomas/North Sac

.38/.357Mag
.308
.45

I'm using Varget and Bullseye right now but I plan on picking up some Long Shot for the .38. I'm just using a single stage right now as space is a big problem. As soon as I come up with a solution for that I'll probably be looking at a Dillon 650.

I'd be interested in some lead casting but I kind of wanted to try it first before I invested in everything.

I'm in Folsom, and I'm so new to reloading that I haven't even shot my first reload.

I'm reloading for 40 s&w and 7mm-08 Remington. Soon to be reloading 7.5x55mm Swiss, that's if my 03 FFL comes before I die.

Shop at Discount shooters Supply in Roseville, and pick up some stuff at STS in Folsom and Sportman's in Roseville.

Update: Well I'm not a virgin any longer. Fired my first 50 reloaded 7mm-08 rounds today along with about 15 rounds of 40 S&W.

I had the 50 rifle rounds loaded in increasing powder weights from 36 grains to 40.5 grains of H4895 in 0.5 grain increments . looking for a load that was right for my BLR 81. The lower 3 weights we too light and the upper 3 to too strong but the middle 4 were just right.

I'm going to do some testing by lowering the jump next. Wish I had a chronograph. I'd like to see what the difference between the max loads and those middle 4 loads would be with my 20" barrel. I like to shoot this rifle out to 300+ yds and I don't know what those middle of the pack rounds can do at that range.

The 40 S&W, I only shot 3 rds each for the 5 loads I loaded. I just couldn't spend any more time after shooting the rifle rounds with all the breaks to check targets. But I was curious so I tried 3 round each to see if the loads would cycle the action. I really liked the light loads (4.4 & 4.6 grains of W231) and will probably try going even lower when I go back to fully test the rest.
