Default RPR still best bang for the buck?

Hey All,

Lookin at sub $1,200 range rifle and an extra 500-600 on glass. Gonna try 600+ yards. RPR in 6.5 still best bang for the buck for a chassis rifle?

I've been looking at Savage 10 BA stealth. Lighter and easier to replace the stock later if you want.

If all you care about is swapping an action in a"precision" chassis just build it yourself then. The stealth is an mdt chassis, that's the beauty of it. Or your could buy a base model gun like a rem 700 and buy your "precision" chassis. Same thing.

We see a lot of RPR's on the line in both our Long Range and Steel matches, they do well in both with some good load development.

$450 (its on sale right now for $380) Get a Howa 1500 barreled action from Brownells. 24" heavy barrel 6.5CM.
https://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...rod103531.aspx
$400 Bell and Carlson adjustable comb stock from Stocky's Stock
https://www.stockysstocks.com/stocks...ion-stock.html
$200 for a 20 MOA base and scope rings.

That saves you $200 on the rifle, that puts your scope budget up to $800. PST Gen I can be found for $750ish. Thats a lot better option than what your going to find in the $500-$600 range.

If you must have magazines right away yes. But to get started and shooting magazines aren't needed.

They do sell that stock in a pre inletted in a M5 pattern for the 700. I'd make a call to Stockys to see if they do the same for the Vanguard/Howa.

Yes. And LRI makes custom barrels that are easy to put on yourself at home. The stock is super easy to replace as well. It’s an AR gas tube.

Why would you want to replace the stock on the RPR? It seems to offer great adjustability, etc. Seems like for the price it includes a very good stock, and any benefit of changing the RPR to an aftermarket stock would be relatively small.

What am I missing?
