Civilian Marksmanship Program Clubs in Bay Area?
Are there any CMP organizations in the Bay Area near San Francisco? I was doing some research on Govt. surplus 1911's to be released to the CMP (well supposed to be released but when that happens, who knows http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1403425). The CMP site has a list search but it turns up very few by the way outside of a Boy Scout troop in Alameda and a JROTC in San Jose. Sadly, Chabot was still on the list and they've been closed down. https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php

RWVA, which runs Appleseed shoots. Attend an Appleseed, join the RWVA ($20 for a year or something like that), and you will have 2 of the criteria done that are required to purchase from the cmp. Appleseed will sign a cmp form for you.
Disclosure: Appleseed SB |

Sign up for the Garand Collectors Association. It costs $25 a year and when you sign up, they automatically transfer your info to CMP. You can look at the FAQ section of their website for more information. http://thegca.org/faq/

Not only do you qualify for a CMP Garand (or 1911 when that happens) but you learn to be a better shooter, too. Its very much worth a look. |

Same boat as the OP.
The CGSSA is CMP affiliated at $20/yr - http://cgssa.org/shop/ . Their website looks to have not been updated for a while, but they seem active enough on social media. Anyone know if the CMP accepts CA Hunters Ed certificate as part of their requirements for eligibility ? At the moment there are no North CA 2018 appleseed events listed, but check https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1366435 and https://appleseedinfo.org/schedule/?...ate=California |
