1910 Mexican Mauser Carbine? https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/1...ne_/14-425198/
Oh hell, I was identifying Pitfighter's pictures. The rifle in the OP has a bayonet lug on it like a Springfield but the sling attachments are on the side unlike a Springfield. Mexican Mausers don't have that type of bayonet lug/front band. Last edited by Rogerbutthead; 05-07-2018 at 9:50 AM.. |

What an incredible photo - and shows the same area of the rifle.
The "lug" in the OP's picture, may or may not be a lug, difficult to tell from the photo. Could be something on the back of his hand, a trick of the light on the screw-fastener, regardless lots of German originated firearms found their way over. I love this era. I bought these 1912 era ammo bandoliers in El Paso last month, along with the spurs, steel-clip holster and revolutionary period money - there was a lot of other stuff I liked there, but, I could only validate the high-capacity carrying devices.

I haggled a bit - took everything for about $300.
Bandoliers with ammo. Spurs. Holster. 1912 bills. Mexican blanket. Some .44-40 rounds. and an old cotton confederate flag - 1950's or 60's. Great props for photographs. https://www.yelp.com/biz/whoopee-bow...mall-canutillo

It was the 1936 model. It resembles the Springfield 1903 in more than a few ways. It has a sheet metal front sight hood, knurled cocking piece, stacking swivel and the front band with it's integral bayonet lug as the Springfield does. It also uses the Springfield butt trap cleaning kit. It's nick name is the "Mini Springfield.

That is one heck of a nice Mexican Mauser, not at all surprising given its curator! I have never seen a Mexican Mauser for sale that wasn't completely thrashed, and even those are expensive.
